LW Chip - play with the lofting in the designer on a flat green chipping from the fairway/fringe/rough etc.
All becomes clear.

For anything under I fully loft and hit a half swing for 6yards or so. Try it out it's been pretty good for me anyway. Now I haven't charted anything but I think the lw chip goes about 18yards. I could be wrong but I'm very good at anything 12 and under with the full loft technique

My half swings for 2 yards unless I'm right on. I think I'll just "feel out" a normal CHIP with LW. That seemed to work better. In real golf I used a 6i. Full loft has too much mistake in it for me.

Actually I've gotten better with "feel" and a normal loft with the LW. 100% loft is nice for 15 yard chips but a totally lofted LW has a BIG BIG mistake ratio. Much better just feeling it out.

I don't play with the loft at all, I just don't swing the club back as far.
I've been pretty successful holing them from 6-9 yards.

I don't play with the loft at all, I just don't swing the club back as far. I've been pretty successful holing them from 6-9 yards. This 100%. Half and 3/4 swings to get different distances. Downhill green slope will roll out a little (or a lot), uphill will roll far less. Uphill lie will check, downhill lie will roll. Lie % in the rough doesn't seem to affect the shot too much.
Make a green with varying slopes in designer and "tee" positions from distances of 6-30 yards and practice chipping. You'll get it down.

Lie % seemed meaningless on Pitch shots, even severe left to right. Anybody else see this? On Chips is it this way also?

Has anyone got an idea of when the ball will and won't spin with the chips? I'll have 2 identical shots ( distance, landing on upslope, into wind) one will spin and one won't. This appears to be completely random to me and it's driving me nuts! 👍

To the OP, do you mean 8-12 feet or yards? I ask seriously because if you are off of the green that close in feet, then just putt it.
If not, then I don't have anything to add as I chip quite defensively in the 8-12 yard range.
