Well, not my ONLY weakness, but the one that is really bothering me now.
I use tour clubs. I have honed my chipping, I have gotten pretty good out of any greenside bunkers and as good as I can be out of fairway bunkers. decent out of rough too. But the one aspect of my game I am still struggling with is one area where I was deadly in TGC1... 70-90 yard shots. For a 70 yard shot, I pull out the (GW) pitch that is supposed to go 65 yards, hit P/P thinking bounce and roll 5 yards should be close ... and the damned ball goes 69 yards on a fly and rolls another 6 yards, leaving me a 15-20ft putt for par. Does not matter if rough or fairway. Next time I face that shot I loft just slightly, the damned ball goes 60 yards and stops dead...another 15ft-20ft putt.
Next shot is 80 yards, so I pull out (LW?? - sorry don't know what club it is), the 85 yard club, loft just slightly hoping to land it at 80 because it usually bounces a yard and stops. Instead with a P/P one time it will go 74 yards, the next time 84...I cannot get any consistency going with these shots. And these are P/P shots, not slow, not fast. My best play on one of these is to hit a PW (100 yards) normal shot and take a guess at the amount of loft I need to have the ball hit the green as close to the hole as possible. Any shot 90-100 I hit the 100 yard shot and loft a little or more and I can usually get within 6ft.
I guess I need to spend some time on the range with these shots. Problem is that you are pitching/hitting into a fairway and you do not get a representative ball roll to an approach shot.
I have gotten really good out of greenside bunkers, from anything 15-35 yards I seem to be able to hit within 5ft. All by feel and partial or rushed swing flop shots. Chipping, anything from 8yds to 20 yards - the LW? - 12 yard shot) is my go to.
Anyone else getting really good at all of these various approach shots and scrambling shots, but have that one or two areas where you are just weak, and frustrated? Excluding slice/hook, putting and tempo issues? Such as bunker shots, chipping out of rough, side hill lies, pitching, etc.?

You really gotta pay attention to the up/down slopes where your ball lies, also where the ball will land and the firmness of greens.

I do pay attention to where the ball is and if I am on the fairway or rough...not as much attention as I should to uphill or downhill lie. Going from TGC1 where any shot from 45-95 yards was for he most part an automatic 5ft to the pin or less shot. I need to hit the range and nail this aspect of the game. This cost me 3 shots at least in one round in one of my societies last night.
I am a complete hack in RL golf, so this game actually forces you to learn something about RL golf too. Which is a good thing.

The pitches run more than in TGC1
Also, I am finding that perfect-perfect very straight (almost perfect) white lines are going a yard or two further than the distance advertised - almost a punishment for hitting it too well
Generally speaking there are just way more potential outcomes on every shot in this game - that has to be a good thing

Uphill and downhill lies will SEVERELY alter the ball's distance. I think this is what people are referring to as "not full" backswings. Those lies, especially the uphill, will REALLY affect the distance travelled.

Has anyone tried about a 3/4 backswing on a SW (100) from 75-80 yards. I like it better than the pitch, just trying to groove the swing. One hop and check.

I was messing around doing this on the CCPro tournament last night (since it did not count at all for me). Using the partial swing I completely messed up the amount of swing though. Does not seem linear. Could not gauge the distance by the height of the swing.
But I started lofting up on the SW (100) to try and get the right distance. Wow, can get distance close, but that (lofting and already lofted club) makes the backspin obscene...almost like the flops of TGC1. I was 87 yards from the pin. So I applied about 1/4 distance above the line of loft. Hit the green, which was flat (but medium firmness) right at the hole, bounced 1 yard, then backed up 7 or 8 yards leaving about a 26ft putt. Probably would be a good play on firm/firm. But on medium firmness and medium speed, yuck.

I've tried to not leave myself that distance altogether. Not working out very well for me!

I think we go about things differently. I don't look at the player when I swing, when I say 3/4, I mean it feels like 3/4 of the full swing I usually make. I can't do the visual cue thing.
