I bought the game a few days ago, so I'm still pretty new. Slowly but surely I've been improving my handicap (10), but yesterday in the middle of a game I started slicing everything. I've tried everything, watching my mouse, moving it differently, over-correcting, no matter what I try, I can't get rid of this damn slice.
Any advice is appreciated.
*edit* Even if 'the cone' indicates that I'm hitting it straight, the dreaded slice still happens. I know that IRL that usually means you 're hitting the ball with an open club face. In-game, however, I can't change the way I'm holding the club as far as I know, so I don't know how to fix this.

This has happened to me over the first 2 weeks of this game (Tour clubs), especially during first week where I would get plenty of straight shots and then all of sudden everything went wide. I could say that the developers are maybe tweaking the slice/hook factors sever-side based on the angle offset of your controller/mouse on backswing and follow through, but that's just me looking for something to blame (although it could be true) . I have the slice problem as well (inverted control scheme). What I have tried to do is compensate on the follow through a little the other way and it typically goes straighter. I do a couple of practice swings beforehand to smooth out my mechanics and also gain confidence in the actual swing. Like many things it can be pyscological where it starts happening and keeps happening and if I cannot avoid it I start compensating by having a "fast" downswing so it goes right to left or aim the cursor to compensate.

Thanks for the advise. Also, what key bind is for practice swings, have been trying to find it. In a live stream with the devs I heard mention it's middle mouse key, but that doesn't work.

I play on PS4 and it is click left stick. I found it by accident once. Click right stick changes the camera which helps when you get yourself in a tight spot.

Always make sure you are holding the controller straight. I was having issues and looked down. The controller was at a slight angle. Helped . . . until I started to something else wrong.
