Hi everyone.
As we're about to start our inaugural season proper on Sunday 9 July, and our individual societies are well established now, it seemed more appropriate to have but one thread for all seniors regardless of platform. I have combined with a couple of other like-minded guys and together, we will do our best to bring you a similar Senior Tour experience to that in TGC1 but with a few exciting changes.
I am looking after the PS4 side of things, Simon Morris (SAM ) PC and Ken Wise (coggin66 ) XB1. We will each set identical schedules and synchronise start times as far as possible. Obviously wind conditions will vary across the platforms but differences should even out over a season. I'm sure also that many of you have noticed, as I have, that wind doesn't seem to have as great an effect as before.
With regards to clubs you are at liberty to play with whatever you want. You will of course be bound by existing HB rules regarding changing sets etc.
Obviously, with the changes HB have brought in, there is a major shift in when you can play your rounds. No longer can you pick your own pace to play - you now have to follow the schedule. This will be shown in your in-game society. We propose, to begin with, a season of 10 rounds, with 1 round every 2 days. This will take us to the end of July. From then on we are thinking 1 round every 3 days which would give us 30 day seasons. We will slot "majors" in from time to time with more prize money.
Each round will cost 200 coins to enter and prize money will be set at 80% of the purse. These figures are not set in concrete but that's what we'll start with. Each platform of course will have its own in-game leaderboard and this where you earn your coins. In addition to these leaderboards however, we will set up a Google sheet with link and our cross platform leaderboards will be set up here. There will be an "overall" leaderboard showing all participants actual scores over the complete 10 rounds. In addition to this we propose to set up leaderboards for each round of the season, featuring the frontrunners (top 10) on each course. Their scores will be converted to points according to the following formula: (those of you who were part of "The Daily Round" competition will be very familiar with this.)
For each round within its ten round block, the top 10 all get their hands on some points. The winner (stroke play, lowest score, obviously) will receive 10 points, down to 1 point for 10th. Added to this is how many strokes you win by - a four shot win gets you 14 points for the round, a one shot win would be 11 points and so on. If there is a tie both players get 10 points with no bonus received. This system allows for plenty of varied winners and, importantly, plenty of points to be played for and made up on those above you. Have a bad round one day? No problem, do well in the next days round and pick up plenty of points when other players may not.
The beauty of all this, apart from adding interest, is that you don't have to complete every round. You miss 1 or 2 so what. You can still score points on the other rounds.
We do not propose, at this stage anyway, to further breakdown leaderboards for PGA/Euro, Web or CC. There are a couple of valid reasons for this.
1. These societies are open societies and that means not just TGCT people are involved. For example in my PS4 society I have around 6 such people.
2. At this early stage of TGC2 it doesn't mean that much. For example I'm a Euro player but probably playing at around CC-C level atm.
If you members feel, at some later stage, that this is something you'd like to see return, then we can revisit the situation. Please bear with us and have patience. We are dealing with a completely alien structure that none of us are familiar with and there are little or no instructions. (Surprise, surprise ) We will have some teething problems (sound familiar?) but the main thing is to have fun and enjoy the tour. Use this thread regularly - this will help keep us where we belong - at the top!
And remember, societies activities are governed by their members. You have a voice. Use it.
Thank you all and good luck.
