Stone Putters Design Society - Official HomepageWelcome to the Stone Putters Design Society! As the name suggests, the society will focus on course design. We'll be playing short tournaments on the hottest new courses, revisiting the works of our favorite designers and sprinkling in the works of the up-and-comers new to the design community. Stone Putters will be a place where we can share our thoughts about course design, what makes a course worth playing again, and what changes we see as we move to TGC2. You don't have to be a well-known designer, or even a designer at all to be a part of our community. You just have to play some golf!

You just have to play some golf! This is the hard part. 😉

Our season opens up with two rounds at Victory Village, an Official course designed by tastegw that features extremely wide fairways and manageable greens. It's a great way to open up a new game and start working on that Tour swing!

Joined! Looking forward to playing some great courses!!....we're expected to use tour clubs right? That's what I've been using since launch This society will focus more on the courses than on competition, although winners will get some reward. Feel free to play how you like. If the members overwhelmingly want something, no reason we can't do that down the road. Welcome! Have fun!

Just added canuck's Denali and drivert's Apache Creek to the schedule.
After these, I'll be looking to add newer courses and courses from lesser known designers to mix into the schedule.

In week one we played Victory Village, an Official course created by tastegw. It was yours truly taking home the win with a score of -21 over the two rounds. That score was enough to hold off both mayday_golf83 and Gnomie823 by two shots. Victory Village featured exceptionally wide fairways and manageable greens. We played from the White tees which made the course play short. This was a good course to kick off TGC2 with its new swing mechanic. Look for stiffer challenges ahead. What did you think of Victory Village? Leave your comments below! For the next event, we're playing 2 rounds at drivert's Apache Creek.

Made a mess of both par 5s on the front nine in round 2, otherwise I would have had you ErixonStone! Enjoyed the course. White tees made it a relaxing couple of rounds and definitely could tell we were playing a Taste course with the shapes he used. Easy to see it didn't take home long in the beta to play with the new toys given to us in the designer. Enjoyed and will be excited to see how Apache Creek transfers to TGC2.

I'll add more content as we go on, and as I have more time.
Boy, I struggled at Apache, bungling my way to a 6-over score - a far cry from the 21-under I posted last week. I couldn't do anything consistently, but I think I found my rhythm on the last 9. I was +10 at one point but made some good shots and battled back to even par for the final round.
Next event is at Denali. Will be a tough one.

Stone Putters Design Society NewsPrevious Event: (The Who's) Tommy is a wizard! At our last event, held at Apache Creek by drivert , it was tommy2525 , riding a first round 64 (-7) to the win. PS4 member moisthamster paced the second round with a 2-under 69 and finished as the runner-up. I had an awful time of things in the first round, struggling to a 77 (+6). I expected Apache Creek to play a little bit tougher than Victory Village did, figuring the mix of holes would prove to be an intermediate challenge. The course really highlights the difference in gameplay between TGC1 and TGC2. Missing the mark really gets you into a lot of trouble, as hazards are difficult to escape - something that just didn't happen in TGC1. As a result, my score took a huge nosedive. Coming Up: More Design HeavyweightsThe next event is being held at Crazycanuck1985 's The Denali Club which projects to be quite the challenge, and then it's back to a relaxing event at arcticfury 's new Jupitor Ridge. We have some room on the schedule, and I would like to get two things accomplished with future events: Play a course by a lesser-known designer; Play an RCR. To date, I don't think any of our members has been able to bring a course over from TGC1 ( mayday_golf83 ; Gnomie823 ), but as soon as we have a course designed by a member available, I want to get it on our schedule. If you have any suggestions about what courses to play, please let me know! Updates: Come see the new digs!Stone Putters has reached level 2! This allows us to add 5 more events to the schedule. We also made some clubhouse renovations. No more are the blinds bent, nor are there TV cables hanging from the ceiling. The Society Membership Fee has been increased to 100 coins. This is aimed at helping us upgrade the Society. Entry fee for the Jupitor Classic at Jupitor Ridge is set to 200 coins with 65% going towards the purse. It will cost 1200 coins to reach Level 3.
