Hybrids are easier to hit out of the rough and they have a higher trajectory than irons. In your example the 7 wood would have the highest trajectory but be the hardest to hit out of rough/sand, the 3 hybrid will go higher than the 3 it on but not as Hugh as the 7 wood and be the easiest to hit out of sand/rough. The 3 iron will have the lowest trajectory and be easier to hit out of sand/rough than the fairway wood but not as easy as the hybrid. really? thats surprising, the hybrid already had a slight distance advantage, but also easier to hit out of bad lies? sounds like everyone should carry a bag full of hybrids You can check it out for yourself, get yourself in a gnarly lie and cycle through your clubs, the hybrid will have a higher % as the bottom end of the spectrum than a long iron. It mimics real life in how woods/hybrids/irons react in relation to each other. All else equal between a fairway wood, hybrid and iron of the same loft the wood will launch the highest due to the center of gravity being able to be the lowest and it will have a COR than either a hybrid or iron which means more distance. A hybrid has lower COG and a higher COR than an iron but not as high/low as a fairway wood. Due to it's shape it also moves through the rough more easily than a fairway wood (too big, grass slows it down) and an iron (flatter shape gets caught in grass more easily). I'm a former club pro and have club fitting certifications from numerous manufacturers.

I feel like for balancing/realism, they could make hybrids less workable than their iron counterparts, giving you a reason to carry a low iron in the bag.

Just assumed that the extra few yards of distance on the hybrids would be negatively impacted somewhere else, certainly didn't think it would benefit both distance and other areas. Wish there was a spot on the driving range I could hit out of various lies...I want to just fill my bag with a few of those pairings and test out the exact same shot from rough/sand/etc. but i think the best i could do would be to take them on the course, but unable to replicate the exact same lie

I'll have to check that out...my limited time yesterday didn't let me get into the creator at all but good to know thats an option. Thanks

The worst of it all is the fact it literally lags during swings and says very slow or slow back swing. Then you're just screwed after that because you're more than likely losing yardage. This is literally happening 8/10 swings for me using tour clubs

This is literally happening 8/10 swings for me using tour clubs I was so thrilled when I finally had a perfect/perfect shot yesterday (not sure if that's a me problem, but I'm on PS4 and finding it very difficult), but then my 3 iron went about 110 yards.

It helped me a bit if I turned down all the graphics settings, still not enough to get a lag-free swing on some courses though. It's tough on PS4, you have to anticipate the club reaching the top before it does (and somehow account for possible lag). If I get perfect/perfect, usually I've started the downswing too soon and only get 80-90% distance. Hopefully it will be improved so that tempo is separated from lag/slow frame rate.

I get perfect/perfect over 98% of the time on PS4
but I have to watch my golfer. I can't do it unless I watch the club get right to the top of the backswing, then I flick it forward.
Works every time.

I have this problem less with the player clubs but it's probably something we all will have to practice on. I'm sure I'm just swinging my TGC1 swing and it ain't working lol
