"home stretch of 12-17 should ONLY take a few weeks" (emphasis added by jeffbdvs) Seriously, I hope the level of appreciation for your work (and that of other hard-working designers) gets to be even a tenth of the sweat and tears you put into making these courses. ONLY a few weeks? Sheesh. Thank you for all your hard work, Craig. It's not as bad as it sounds, it's more of a timing thing. By the time I've fired up the computer, started TGC2, and opened all of my source materials, I've already used up half of my allotted time to work on the course. Every once in awhile I get a longer stretch like last night, where I was able to bang out most of the 11th hole.

Gotten distracted from this one, as I've strayed into "too much on my plate" territory.
Finished the 13th hole (minus planting) tonight, and wanted to get something out to get a feel for it in the wind and see if I liked the conditions. Published "ErinBeta13" if anyone wants to give it a whirl. I played the first 13 with light winds and from the 7200 tee, and I think it feels good so far. Not too hard, definitely not US Open conditions, but give the 7600 tees a play if you want more of a beatdown. Could stretch it even farther for a US Open type version.

If someone wants to track down Henrik, aka setmypath, and get his file from him (assuming he designed on PC), I would be happy to touch it up and release it. Otherwise my next will be a local course in my area, very famous designer, not as famous of a course, with a little help from someone in the golf media community.

Love the design work brilliant,but Not a fan of the Course.It might be because i played back tees with 265 clubs,love a US open Course with Holes so close together this course Felt like 18 separate holes,i think i love merion,oakmont style far too much.

I definitely would recommend not playing the back tees with Player Clubs. I can barely recommend playing them with Tour Clubs. This course to me is much better as a standard length course with lots of width and options around the greens than it is as a US Open course. I agree on the plot being extra large and disconnected, as well. I don't have any experience with Sand Hills as a course (Coore & Crenshaw design in Nebraska), but I know that the designers had a quote about how they could have found 180 holes on the plot they were given, or something to that effect. I have never heard a critique of that course feeling disconnected, so I don't how they did it, but Erin Hills definitely feels like the designers had too much land to play with, as opposed to Merion being jam-packed in its plot. The only stretch of Erin Hills that feels like it flows nicely together to me is Holes 2-4, where you can see your next hole in the distance when you reach each green.

Played the back tees last night and loved every minute of it! Might just be me but the greens seem easier than they appeared at the us open again might just be me fired a 61 with several shots trashed just to see how the greens played in different spots! Excellent work I’m a big fan

Working hard to try and clear this one from the deck. This course absolutely crawls in the GNCD, and I can't take it anymore. I've laid down textures for 14, 15, and almost done with 16. 17 will be easy, no bunkers, but 18 has I think I counted 25, so I can't wait for that one to be over with. Once I finish those I will go back over each of those holes to do elevations, then fix up the perimeter of the course, and should be good to go.

Finished correcting the layout and bunkers for 14-18, and started back through the 14th to do elevations and smaller details like cart paths and walking paths, and cleaning up the creek along the right side. I'm finding that there are major differences between the 2016 overhead, the 2018 overhead, and the flyover videos on the website. Clearly the USGA fiddled with the mowing patterns in some areas, and it's hard to place a timeline on the flyover videos, which feature some but not all of the trees that are in the 2016 overhead, but which are missing on the 2018 overhead. Basically I can't tell if some trees were removed prior to the Open, or if they have continued tree removal after the Open. One tree behind the 14th and one along the 17th have clearly been removed.
This is my only priority project at the moment, so really hoping to be done in a couple weeks.

I hope to have this published by Friday at the latest. I currently just need to sculpt a few greenside bunkers at the 18th and do the 18th green. Then I will go back and playtest the pins and touch up elevations around the course. I honestly don't seeing it taking much longer than Wednesday or Thursday to finalize.
Looking for suggestions on the naming structure. I haven't officially checked, but I am going to guess that there will probably be a minimum of at least 10 courses named Erin Hills that have nothing to do with the real course. This first version will have the 5 official tees on the scorecard, and is meant to play more like what the public would see on any given day. I will look to do a US Open version later, where I basically max out the tees and close to max out the greens, and try to plant tournament objects if there is enough room left on the meter. It's not the version I would want to play, but some people are into that.
Here are a few ideas and combinations that I am trying out, but definitely looking for feedback and more ideas: Erin Hills (Public) / Erin Hills (US Open) Erin Hills - Erin, WI / Erin Hills - Erin, WI (Us Open) or Erin Hills - Erin, WI (Open Setup) Erin Hills (Public Setup) / Erin Hills (Open Setup)

In the spirit of realism, I'm trying not to use the Members label, as it's a public course that does not offer memberships. The Public terminology is what I came up with, because Daily Fee didn't seem right, and I don't know of any other similar terms. I can always leave the public version unlabeled, though, and just add the extra label for the Open version. Just "Erin Hills" along makes it indistinguishable, though, which is why I was considering my old TGC1 tactic of adding the city and state at the end.
Anyways, thanks for the input, and always appreciate any more ideas.
