In the spirit of the US Open being in Wisconsin for the very first time next week, and seeing how we dont have Erin Hills yet, I decided that a would try to recreate it for TGC 2. Ill be using all online resources at my disposal as well as course pictures (going on Sunday!) to (hopefully) recreate this as accurate as possible. Before I start, does anyone know if anyone here has already started to build this course?

We do already have a version of Erin Hills, but I'll say, it wasn't done very well. Other than that, I don't know if any one is working on it.

Regardless, ill play it and decide on whether ill make my own or not. But the fact it isnt be used for the US Open here speaks volumes.

TBH I couldn't finish my round because of the way it was put together, so you should still give it a go.

I've decided that my couse designing skills, or lack of, would not be good enough to remake Erin Hills so im not going to bother trying. I will start making fictional courses, and the first one i make will have a similar style to Erin Hills, but i wont be actually recreating it.

Yeah, that's probably a good place to start before taking on an RCR.

Definitely something to keep in mind for ANYONE doing ANY RCR... course tours like this are very helpful.

If HB gives the course designer fescue I think this will be done by someone, accurately, very quickly.. If not, then I think it will stay uncompleted as no matter how you complete it it wont resemble the look well.

I do think that someone could scale up some golden colored grass and plant it all over the place, but that would totally murder the plant meter.

I took a look at it yesterday in the designer, and it would just take too long to get it clumped together all over the course. Plus, like you said, you'd probably need twice the size of the planting meter. If we could get a fescue option like what we have for greens, fairways, and rough surfaces, that would be ideal.

The draw distance with the current grass options makes fescue all over not very attainable. You have to clump so much together to make it visible it kills the plant meter.
Wish a legitimate fescue option existed though, courses in the vein of Erin Hills with the wind swept look and fescue all over are my favorite courses to look at/play.

What's your approach to planting in regards to the fescue? You did it so well on St. Andrews and it looks fantastic here as well. I'm working on a course myself that I want to have fescue all over but I can't get it to look right
