No one in the Atlantic East was supposed to make any waves in the NHL playoffs other than Boston and Montreal. - Despite Ottawa's higher seed, they were a 6-1 underdog vs the Bruins and beat them in 6. - The upstart Rangers who finished last in their division beat Montreal. Despite Ottawa's higher seed the Rangers were a 6-1 favourite. Ottawa beat them in six as well.
- The defending champion Penguins came in after just winning a game 7 of their own and commanded an 8-1 favourite over the Sens. Ottawa must have missed that message winning the first 2 of 3, then losing the next two. In game 6 they shot hard and won to tie the series at three. These scrappy Senators, underdogs in all their series took the defending champions in to not one but double overtime before losing. Ottawa and the Nashville Predators were 30 to 1 to win it all. Vegas was one shot from two long shots heading to the finals. Ottawa was one shot to their first Stanley Cup Finals in 10 years.
No one expected Ottawa to be where they ended up, but they took it as far as they could just falling short.
Well done Ottawa!!

Craig Anderson played so well, he was fantastic in the net for the Sens.
Still gotta watch out for those Preds though. Seems like someone flipped a switch on them once the playoffs started.
Penguains have won enough, go Smashville. (Being a Flyers fan, I dislike Pittsburgh anyway lol)

Personal pet peeve of mine when anyone misspells a players name. Between Joe and Shawn Thornton I had to spend nearly 15 years correcting Bruin fans who seemed to insist it was Thorton.

It is weird as I like the Steelers but dislike the Pirates. Penguins are meh for me tho Crosby is a good 'ol Canadian boy who scored the winning goal in the Olympics for Canada sooooo, still meh. Predators haven't done much lately so I'm rooting for the underdog.

Would have been weird to have Nashville and Ottawa be the final because that would be underdog overload to the extreme right there. I really have no interest in seeing Pittsburgh win again and while Nashville has PK Subban who I'd rather not see win it would be a real kick to the teeth of the Canadiens so I approve.

I root for Pittsburgh everything so I'm hoping for the repeat. How can you hate on a city where all of their pro teams have the same color scheme?
Tip of the cap to Anderson for a great series. Any other net minder and the Sens didn't stand a chance.

No love for Karlsson? He's the real mvp of the senators.
For the finals I'm hoping for a Nashville win. Simply can't find any love for any team wearing black and yellow...
I'm torn on how this will turn out though. Nashville has a great team and a lot of d men that can move the puck and be a threat on the offence, but they lack some of that 1, 2 punch that Pittsburgh has in their top lines. Rinner needs to step up for nashville to have a shot.

Leafs would've smoked them in the first round had it fallen that way.
