Went ahead and completed the full course for those interested- it's listed as Pennybacker National. Par 71, somehow came out to exactly 7000 yds.
Open to any and all criticism, have fun out there!
I dont want to sound too harsh here but i will tell you what i see (im not the most experienced designer). Im playing on cruise control so it will be a fast round.
Hole 1 sculpting in front off the tee box blocks the view of the fairway and the trees are oddly placed. My drive went over the tree to the left so its cleanable but needlessly placed. The fairway also starts quite a distance away from the tee box. Par.
Hole 2 same issue. A mound in front of the tee box completely obscures your view of the hole. The severe slope towards the bunker is harsh, but i like the idea of the routing here. Made birdie.
Hole 3 tiny green. Sculpting isnt great. Made par. Could be a nice hole with some work.
Hole 4 again fairway too far from the tee box. I had a tailwind so it wasnt a problem this time. This green is massive compared to the last with lots of slopes. Made birdie.
Hole 5 tee shot interesting with a tree and bunker right in the middle of the fairway. Again the view was ruined by the sculpting. Smallish green with lots of red. Made par.
Hole 6 finally i can see where i am hitting
i like the idea of the dogleg seems well measured, good risk reward, hitting into an absolutely tiny green though. Made par.
Hole 7 another view blocked by sculpting.. lots of yellow near the hole. Tiny green again. Very short par 5. Made birdie.
Hole 8 sculpting takes the fairway bunker out of play. Green is a better size, sloping towards the player which is good for a long par 4 but the slopes are very red.. made par here.
Hole 9 the green is absolutely tiny the smallest yet and completely flat...made a birdie thanks to the flat green.. out in 32.
Hole 10 thin fairway.. like the idea of the big cliff rocks though. Tap in birdie here.. could be a punishing hole if you miss the skinny fairways though
Hole 11 the greens are getting smaller 9x10 here. The cliff rocks i liked from the last hole looks ugly up close.. maybe better to use from a distance. Easy birdie here at only 115m.
Hole 12 wow huge par 4, struggled to even reach the green in 2 with a headwind. Driver 3 wood on a par 4. Made par. . Dont like the sculpting around the green either.
Hole 13 another small green with red around it.. made bogey from a 3 putt because in stopped concentrating to write about the hole.. the greens definitely need some work..
Hole 14 i liked the view of the approach here but its just a terrible shot to play. 200 yards with the hole surrounded by yellow on a firm green. Good luck here . The green should be looked at asap. Made double bogey .
Hole 15 holy sculpting.. green needs alot of work.. made birdie but could see myself making a 7 or 8 here..
Hole 16 another tee shot view blocked.. interesting bunkers though . Miniature green again . Completely flat green again. Made par .
Hole 17 drive went straight into the trees... bad placement.. made bogey... the hole needs a redo with new sculpting
Hole 18 finally a nice size green but has alot of red slopes. Like the design here. Made par.
68 -3 on cruise control. Honestly i didnt like the course, it needs alot of work. I can see the ideas you had with the routing and it could become a decent course with the right amount of time spent. It felt very, very rushed and autogen in places. The sculpting needs alot of work especially on the green and tee shots. If i were you id check out or re watch some of the videos from course designers on this site to get an idea of how to really make a special course.
I dont mean to sound harsh, mean or rude, the course was just extremely rushed and unpolished. That being said i can see what you were going for with the rolling hills inspired course and think you could put out some excellent courses in the future, the holes were interesting, i liked the routing, it just felt very rushed.
