I'm new at TGC and trying my hand at re-creating a course on the PC. Ideally I'd like to be able to try out my course on the PS4, since that's what I play with. I have the PC version primarily for designing courses.
While I can see that I can save a test course created on the PS4 to a USB stick and transfer that to the PC, I see that the PS4 course data is much bigger than a PC course (10,000k on PS4 vs. 132k on a PC). That leads me to believe that they are not the same kind of course file, correct?
Bottom line, I'd like to move the course files to and from the PC to the PS4 and back so that I can start the course design on either platform, continue work on either one, and finally play it on either one. Is this possible?
Perhaps there's a file converter somewhere?
I know I could publish the course, but its not practical until all the work is done in designing.

There is no way to switch courses between platforms. There's also no way for PS4 or XB1 players to swap course files, as PC players are the only ones who can do collabs.
If you'd like to know how to swap files on PC, shoot me a PM, I'll let you know.

So is there something going on during the "publish" of a course that makes it accessible to all platforms?

So is there something going on during the "publish" of a course that makes it accessible to all platforms? It just posts the course to the HB Studios/TGC database that anyone can access, so yes

I guess what I'm trying to understand is if I create a course on PS4 or on PC, once it is published it is somehow converted into a format that all platforms can play, right?
Is there a way to know the file specifics of what that "universal" format is? Perhaps it would help in creating at least a PC to PS4 file converter.

Yes Only HB people know, and if they let that info out, the game could fall apart.
