How to I delete fairway. Just a bit of missing knowledge. I can't seem to place rough over it so I assume I need to delete it first?

Yes, fairway takes precedence over rough. Hover over your fairway, then bump over to the delete brush option. Sometimes the designer can't tell what you're trying to delete, so you may need to delete rough first before your fairway.

Just to add to scampi00's note, when hovering, you need to make sure the fairway shape becomes highlighted in yellow - then it's the "active" shape that will be deleted when you use the Delete Brush option.

When you say, "delete fairway," do you mean that you want to remove the entire piece of fairway you just built, or just a small section of it (so you can put a small bunker in the center of the fairway, for example)?

If this is what you mean, here's what I do: Flatten the area you want to delete with a blue brush. Then, switch to a red brush, make it just a tiny bit smaller, and lower the land as low as you can possibly go and click. When you look at it, it should have replaced the flattened area with light rough (assuming that's what you have laid down underneath). If there is area where it is messed up with deep watery "canyons," then you did it wrong and have to do the process again.

Just smoothing out lines after creating a fairway. After learning that the RED brush's when raising land was invisible (that was a 2 week issue as I kept doing things and then not seeing anything happen was VERY FRUSTRATING).

Yeah, this is the method to use when you want to put a pot bunker, for example, in the middle of an existing fairway, also.
