I mean i'm in cc-e! Now I don't sit on here nightly, I play twice a week. I'm an old dude. 50 years old but a gamer since the Magnavox Odysee. Wth do i need to focus on? Great game by the way. Only reason I still play my ps4.

Only reason I still play my ps4. Magnavox Odyssey.... now that brings back memories...like taping overlays on the screen, and tape drives! Hard to say where you need to improve without seeing your play, two things come to mind... 1) twice a week is probably not enough practice to really do terribly much improving. 2) Check your tournament stats (Player Stats) on the leaderboard, and see what aspect of your game you need to work on: GIR, putting, FIR, putting, and of course, putting. Make sure you've read all the tips you can from the Driving Range, and maybe watch some of the big boys playing on Twitch. You might pick up some ideas there. I'm a couple years older than you, so I guess I'm considered absolutely ancient -- but sometimes you can teach an old dog new tricks!

I'm in your age range myself - I never had an Odyssey, but they looked really cool at the time. A lot of my gaming really didn't start until later, with the ol' Commodore 64. Oh, the day I actually got a disk drive and could ditch the tape drive...
If you haven't read through them, I really recommend checking out the posts by Doyley and BoomBoom. Both posts have a ton of good information that can help you up your game. Aside from that though, I'd recommend also just trying to find the time to play more if you can - that alone will help a great deal as you learn how the ball moves on different surfaces (firm or soft) and on slow to fast greens. Winds can be a real tricky thing to get good with - I still underestimate the winds occasionally.

This is a good time to join because we're running a Seniors Masters comp next month. It's a relaxing tour, you should enjoy it and it will give you much needed practice. Check out the opening post of the Seniors thread under Community Events.

Switch to Xbox and get yourself a Xbox elite controller 😉
You will be a top 5 player in no time.

This game is about math and feel. Make sure you've got the math down tight. As stated above read Doyley's spreadsheets. Once that is down you can use it to dial in your feel, for wind, bounces, outting, etc... Or you can buy an XBOX elite controller.

It's all about understanding the distances and bounces. Plan out where you want to land your ball, and where best to end up. Many courses it's not safe to just pin hunt, because if you miss on a huge sidehill you'll likely not make it. When in doubt, I play for an uphill putt...even if it's a 20ftr instead of a 10ft sidehiller

Dude, I've been playing as long as you and I'm only in CC-D. Putting is usually the key. Then again, perhaps some of us just aren't that good. (Like, say, me.)

What helped me when the game came out was going into the designer and creating a few holes (makes no difference if its auto gen or not) and you can put the ball wherever you want to practice. The best part about it is you can rewind the shot each time and rehit it using different loft, draw/fade or pitches and flops which helps you get a better distance feel seeing as there is no wind in the designer. You can change the firmness and speed of greens too which helps understanding with run out of approach shots.
Just save your course and never publish it and it will always be there for you. Hopefully the driving range on TGC2 will be easier than creating in the designer.

Just to add to Chis' excellent post, you can also try your course with wind by first choosing the Go Offline option from the game start screen, and then playing a round on it.
