Well, we know how the last 54 hole project turned out... (sorry, couldn't resist Andre)...
As a suggestion to keep multiple projects going at once (thanks Griff), I've decided to start a 3-course project for when I get bored with Mt. Kessler. They will be based off the 3 Bass Islands in northern Ohio. All 3 will be in Delta (recipe for burnout lol) and based on the area.
South Bass Island
The biggest of the 3 islands, South Bass Island is home to Put-in-Bay and is the only one of the three to actually be home to a golf course IRL (although it's just a 9 hole executive course). This harbor-town has a great view of Gibraltar Island, home of Ohio State's Stone Lab and played a key role in the Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812. This course will be the easiest of the 3.
Middle Bass Island
Home of 2 airports, fitting a real course here would be a challenge. Luckily for myself, I'll just be basing the plots off of the islands, not directly copying them, lol... This course's difficulty will be in-between the other 2.
North Bass Island
Also known as Isle Saint George, this is the closest to Canada that you can get in Ohio. The most boring of the three islands, but it includes a large swamp that could be an interesting design element. The toughest of the 3 courses.
So why did I choose these islands? Well, my family is planning a week-long getaway this summer to tour the islands of Lake Erie, and these 3 seemed like a perfect trio for courses. Also, the main method of transportation is by golf carts, so that seemed perfect for golf courses.
I probably won't post much in this WIP thread until after Mt. Kessler is complete, so don't expect much.
