What are you suppose to do. Any shot puts the spin on the ball and it runs back at ya. Is there ANY no spin shot for 50ish yards?

Pick the 45 yd pitch and take loft off it to make it run on instead of putting backspin on it.

Pitch a 45yrd PW. Don't move the shot shaper at all. You can discount all wind below 10mph with the pitch shot. The ball will land 45 yards and roll out between 1 to 5 yards depending on green firmness. If it's a firm green all is good. If it's a slow green, move shop shaper down a small amount.
I hope this helps.

I was worried about losing too much distance and loft to get it to the green.

Here's the key to me. Play practice rounds with 2 or more golfers and work different shots each time. This is how you'll get the feel for what works in which circumstance. Too many variables can come into play to provide a "correct" answer here.

There is an awesome 9 hole course where you can practice all of your nightmare shots. Tiger Woods Cabin Retreat Deux. Looks like I need to visit again. That shot does not come up as much as it used too. I think that is a good thing lOL
