Welcome to the Big Easy! The Speakeasy, that is...
First built during the heights of Prohibition as part of the Lazy Creek Club, this course is one of the oldest in Colorado and is certainly one with some interesting history. It was first designed as a 9-hole track in the early '20s (no one knows when) by a wealthy bootlegger who wanted a place for golf alongside his raucous parties. It stayed at only 9 until a second nine was created nearly 40 years later by the same man, who by now was an owner of a bed-and-breakfast. After the second nine was created, the name was changed to what it is now. Recently, a fire started by a golfer throwing a lit cigarette into the brush burned down a large amount of the old 7th hole, and an architect was given lease to rebuild it. Being heavily inspired by Augusta, he built the 7th in its image, creating a hole that was now a standout compared to the other holes.
The course plays at 6919 yards with a par of 70, and many holes can be played from different distances at different pars. Speeds are at 157 with medium firmness throughout; the putting and approach can get quite challenging though, especially with higher winds.
Enjoy!

Superb pictures as always Karma, a shame that Alpine has poor planting options with grasses/bushes or else those pictures would be even better.

Somehow skipped over this one, but just saw it in the "Hot New Courses" section, I'll be giving it a go in just a bit.

Just finished up my round at -7. Nice work! The course looks good and plays well with the conditions you have set. I made a nice eagle on 6 along with a couple of bogeys. The sculpting looks great, also. My only complaint is that there were a couple of fairways (10 and 13 I remember for sure) that seemed really far out from the tee, and with a large headwind, they might not be hittable. Other than that, nice job, and I could easily see this on CC-Pro or Web.

No doubt about 10 though, that was dumb of me.

Looks nice. I'll play this whilst downing a craft beer.

I'm a big fan of Alpine courses, and hope to make it out to Colorado tomorrow for a relaxing round of golf at The Speakeasy Club, and a substantially cooler round in the pub afterward. Will be hoping the winds aren't whipped up!
Karma's photos look great yet again.

Big thanks to the guys at TGC AfterDark who played this live last Friday; sorry for not being on at the time.
The winds can be killer on this course TreeWood, but the clubhouse is always friendly and never dry.

Good to know, John... I see in the shoutbox that there seem to be connectivity issues today (likely an issue at HBS' end)... hope I can still manage to get in a round today!

So, finally got my round done today! A very enjoyable course, and I really liked the majority of your hole designs. The only downside -- at least for me, was that I would have liked the fairways to have had some more in the way of sculpting -- they all seemed dead flat, or very close to it. Still, a relatively minor issue overall, and it didn't detract greatly from enjoying the nice routing.
