Driver should ALWAYS be the default off the tee on par 4. Let the golfer decide if he needs to step down to a 3 wood if it is that obvious. I completely disagree with this. The designer should point the fairway waypoint towards the center of the preferred landing area. If the fairway is pinched at the driver landing area, the waypoint should be placed at an alternate area that is wider. If driver is needed to cut the corner of a dogleg hole, then the waypoint should be at the bend so that the suggested club puts the player in the center of the fairway. It's then up to the player to decide how much additional risk he wants to take.

So if the fairway is pinched for a 3 Wood or a trap but wide open for a Driver it should still be 3 Wood? I disagree with that idea totally. Designers should not worry about what a golfer should use - their job is to design a course, not tell a golfer HOW to play it.
Maybe we can get a designer to swing the club also. Sorry but when you see 3 GHOST golfers hitting a clear spot 265 yards away with no problem I ASSUME I have a driver in my hand. I know I've only played 40 rounds but so I'm not in the habit of looking at my club when a hole looks pretty free and easy.

It seems, in your example, the safest landing area was reachable with a driver, so the waypoint should have been set so that a driver was the default club. I just disagree with the notion that driver should always be the default club. In your example, it should have been, but that isn't always the case. Many of the top designers are also among the best players. It's more likely the course was by someone with less experience.

I was just peeved because I was getting out of a funk and say GHOST players hitting wide open and being new I forgot I needed to make sure I had a Driver and it cost me a really good round.
I'm still in the buffoonish mistake area of 40 rounds. I'm over it.
To be honest I don't like ANY default club. Should be 100% players choice - there should be NO default club.

I have a problem keeping the ball straight most of the time. I tend to hook a lot off the tee, so I balance it with draw which is working for me most of the time. Obviously I want to get it out of my game. I use my left thumb on left analog ps4.
I was wondering if HB studios would ever consider in a future TGC to enable the shot to be made by left to right or right to left on analog instead of a pull back and push up method to hit ball, I think that would be a nice option, after all everyone has a different method in real life. Or maybe one day in a golf sim have a 1st person view, toggle analog stick (your eye view) to view left right, look up down, look down at ball to address it and make strike with the other anolog Unless this already exsists in any golf sim game? Even an option to address the ball would nice i.e an option to spread your feet on the fairways and green by using the D pad but maybe that would be too much to fathom in, just a random thought.. Major deviation, interesting post thanks for posting. Hope your swing improves with practise.
