Welcome to Indian Run Country Club in Dublin, Ohio. Just to the south of Muirfield Village Golf Club and the Country Club at Muirfield Village is another beautiful course. The wonderful holes intertwining with the picturesque Indian Run makes for some great views. After your round, you could dine at our 5 star restaurant, or you could take a short hike to the amazing Indian Run Falls: Now for my self evaluation. This course is SO much better than my last one, but I still feel like I'm so far from being a "good" designer. Please give me feedback. Let me know what I did well, and what I could change for my next course. Thanks in advance, and I hope you enjoy your round! Fairways: Medium Greens: Medium, somewhere around 150. Pins: a mix of all 4 days Good luck!

Just solely looking at the pictures, biggest takeaway I have is that the sculpting could improve. Nothing looks "bad" just a little flat and could use a little more shape to everything.
That being said, it looks like a solid effort.
I'll try to give it a go a little later this week.

Great pics as always! I was about to start a round to prep for multi-pinning, and saw you were on so I decided to join in. Thanks for playing!

I'll try to give it a go a little later this week. Yep, I totally agree with that. I tried to sculpt, but I ended up flattening it out... the sculpting and 1st cut around the green were the things I was worrying about.

Very nice layout Jacob....I really enjoyed my round and it was a great solid course design IMO. We just gotta keep at it and sooner or later the designs will get better and better. I really liked the course though and would play it again for sure....thanks for the design!!!

I really enjoyed my round as well. Great layout, great routings, beautiful-looking. My only thought was the greens were a bit on the smallish side. But overall I think you did a really good job, thank you!
Cheers

I thought the course sucked ass and you should quit designing. I thought it played very well...didn't have much conditions to contend with which is always a pleasure. I agree with some of the greens being small but it did not take away from my round. Very well laid out. Keep at it JK....

I just enjoyed an afternoon round at Indian Run Country Club! The winds were up, about 10-13mph on average, but the sun was out. I shot a -7, so at my level I'm not complaining.
Overall, I thought this course was very good. One of the biggest compliments I can give is that even though I never had a flat putt on the green, the slopes were all very fair and enjoyable. It's getting a little old playing so many courses where I have to aim two grid squares over just to read enough break on a 20' putt, so I appreciated that I could read your greens without a protractor. ;-) I also felt like the overall "feel" of the course was consistent and realistic to the environment. I did notice objects in the environment like deer, golf carts, buildings, etc. but my framerate was fine, so everything was great there.
I do see what the others are saying about the green size, but I hit 17/18 greens even in that wind, so one design choice I think you nailed was making sure the firmness wasn't out of control, otherwise the size of the greens would be a far bigger problem (I nearly aced hole 14). The fairway size was pretty considerate, I hit all of the fairways despite no wind below a 9mph cross-wind, so it's possible that one thing that makes the greens "look" smaller is the generous size of the fairways.
If I had any constructive criticism at all it might be in the amount of shadows, which is not a "right or wrong" thing, just a personal preference. Your course was very pretty, but I felt like I was playing in the shade 80% of the time, so I might be missing some of the beauty. I realize the environment of the course was wooded, so it was completely natural and realistic to have that many trees, but perhaps slight adjustments to the ambient settings or placement of some of the trees around the greens could let a little more light peek through and make me feel a little "brighter" about my round.
I see what the designers above are saying about the shaping and sculpting aspects, but it didn't take anything away for me. Certainly, when I play some of the great courses in the game, I'm in awe of the sculpting work (Scampi would be one of them), but let's not discount the fact that there are a lot of courses IRL with flat fairways and terrains, too. As I've played more and more courses on the game, I think one thing that happens is designers start to feel like "flat" isn't justifiable, so some courses are very over-sculpted. I'm certainly no expert, as I'm struggling to sculpt realistically in my first design, but I believe there's a balance to everything. Just because the game has tools that allow us to sculpt amazing terrain, doesn't always mean that every golf course actually looks like that in real life. All that is to say, definitely keep practicing with the sculpting around your bunkers & greens and putting some additional roll into your fairways, but don't go too crazy either when the environment doesn't require it.
Great job, I would play this course again (I really enjoyed the design creativity of hole 3, as an example of a fun hole). And good luck this week in CC-D, I'm rooting for you to cash in on that sponsor's exemption!

Thanks to everyone who has played and reviewed! I am currently multi pinning so there will be multiple conditions available. Tournament summary...
After a week of dry conditions, the Thursday setup will include firm fairways with medium greens, around 180 in speed. After some overnight rain, it will be overcast on Friday with medium fairways and greens, with a green speed around 160. On Saturday the rain will fall all day, with soft fairways and greens, with the slow greens around 140. The weather will clear up a bit for Sunday, with medium fairways and greens, with a green speed at around 150.
I'll let you guys know when I publish them. If I were a scheduler, there's no way I'd use this, but I'd like to offer different ways to play it.
