I played on these tours for about 9 months a while back and I loved it, but then I got a bit burned out and stopped. With TGC2 incoming, there's a good chance I'll want to rejoin the tour once it gets up and running on that game.
The thing is, I really like the idea of competing in the money list for my particular tour--but to do so, you need to get in right away at the beginning and stay in for the entire year, which is a bit of a grind. Miss a few tourney's due to burnout and you lose a lot of ground. And I want the game to be fun, not work.
For me, I'd enjoy the tour more if tour standings (not overall rank) were reset every month or two or three instead of lasting a full year. That way I could compete every weekend for that short tour "season" then take the next "season" off if I'm feeling burnt out.
Just a thought...Does anyone else feel this way?

My thing with this is these are supposed to mirror the real life tours. Do you see players there getting upset about being low on the money list when they take time off? I think it should be expected that if you take time off, you'll miss out on the money standings. I missed a couple months, and I'm not upset at all about where I am on the list.
And where does shortening the seasons benefit the players who have been around for a while? One of the most fun thing about TGCTours is watching the season-long race to the top, and watching the earnings pile up with every solid finish. It wouldn't be as exciting if it reset every couple months.
Anyway, that's my point of view on the situation.

I wouldn't want to see that, but I take your point. One suggestion I've seen is to enforce every player to miss X amount of tournaments a season. In real life what golfer plays every single tournament for a whole year? This way you could take a break and not miss out because you know that at some point during the season every other player will miss tournaments too. Personally I'm quite happy with how things are right now, but I think this idea has some merit if they were to change things a bit and would still mimic real life. In the long run protecting people from 'burn out' will only help keep more people playing.

For the "mirroring real life" aspect, though, I'd say that this is a game/diversion for us, while for the real-life pro golfers it's a *job*. I do get why some people would want to mirror the real-world full-length season, but sticking with it all-year-long requires dedication (that I don't have). It also sucks if you move up a tour midseason, then need to wait 6-9 months before being able to compete for the money leaderboard on an equal footing with everyone else. But maybe I'm just putting too much focus on the money leaderboard. And what benefit is there to the long-term players? Nothong, really, but you'd still have your career earnings/trophies and overall rank. And I guess it's an agree to disagree thing regarding the excitement of competing for the money leaderboard. My thought is that with the year-long season (in lower levels, at least) the money leaderboard becomes more of a measure of who has been at that particular tour level the longest, rather than a good comparison of player performance.

Agree with this, but that's what the overall CC-Pro or CC-Am money list is for (all 3 flights combined) Anyway, I also look at it as, whatever, it's an online golf game. I won't be concerned about my spot on the money list until we get paid real money lol

I've always thought you should only be able to play 40 events a calendar year or something, to better mirror real life where the pros don't play every week, but there are tournaments most weeks of the year on the PGA/Euro (they only take 2/3 weeks off around Christmas time)
It would be a pain in the butt to administrate though, and the guys here do enough already.
Think you are putting too much emphasis on the money leaderboard tbh. It's not real money, and if you're aiming to qualify for something or other or improve your WGR, you need to be committed enough to play regularly enough to earn enough $$$/points, as the journeyman pros do in real life. IRL it's only the very top professionals who play really limited schedules and take as much time off as they like.
Bottom line - it's a game, it's meant to be fun - if you're burnt out, don't play.
