IMO, it's too tall. The church pews at Oakmont are just tall enough to do what they need to do. That thing is 2x-3x taller than it needs to be. You should see some of the green complex's for the short par 3 templates. Extremely brash.

Here is a good look at the 'short' at the Camargo Club. I've just finished building my spin on this template hole for my Cincinnati Club. Absolutely love the unnatural beauty of it.

Here's a quick glance at my 'short' at Cincinnati Club from tee level.

What do you all think of this bunker at Shinnecock from back in the day's of CB Macdonald? Is that the green over on the left side of the photo? If that's the green for this particular hole, I would say that it seems pretty severe because rather than being about a half shot penalty for being in a bunker, it would easily be at least a 1.5-2 shot penalty depending on where the tee shot ended up against that "wall." And remember that was before the sand wedge was invented!

Yeah honestly that bunker at Shinnecock is a bit overboard... but I like the idea. Specifically with vinegar’s comment on the Church Pews.

Imagine sitting down after a round with a few cold bottles of session IPA and burger whilst gazing out at the course...

One of my favorite architects, Tom Doak, and his great links course The Golf Club at St. Andrews Beach, Gunnamatta Course, Rye, Australia - love this funky bunker.

Love redan holes personally. This is one I’ve played a few times IRL, at Tartan Fields in Ohio: It’s pretty standard redan... uphill, with the green funneling around the edges so you can hit that back left pin. Still love the idea.
