I know that the tour is set up to mimic the real schedule as close as possible. I like that - makes it feel authentic.
However, for guys like me that never get invited to majors or special events, these minor events are really boring. This week on the PGA, there are only maybe 50 people signed up.
What about combining the Euro and PGA fields during minors to give us a bit more competition?
Pros:
- There is an actual cut
- Feels more like a real event with a full field
Cons:
- A tour stop would be missed on one of the tours
- FedEx/Dubai points might be a mess to figure out
It's just an idea. I also realize that participation is a bit stale right now and will probably escalate when TGC2 comes out.
I mention this because I went to enter my scores for this week and saw the tiny field of players on the PGA event.
