For a relative newcomer I can definitely say the 9I chip is a great option for anyone new to the game.
I also agree that andwhere between 3-12yds it's all you need.
The only trouble I have is reading how much it will break when it starts to roll. The amount of times I have lipped out over the last 3 days is in the double figures.

I'm probably the only Top20-player who has never ever used or tried the 9I-chip. Hmmmm... this might be the reason why I'll never win.

Get on board with it! 😁 To be fair is rare that I hole out with it but it tends to be a safe shot. LW chips are still the ones I tend to hole.

This lofted 9 iron chip intrigues me. How does it differ from just hitting a normal sw chip for instance? Why does a lofted 9 iron work better? Far easier to stop it dead. Fully lofted 9 iron chip will stop dead around 3 yards, 1 bar down 5 yards, 2 bars down 7 yards...you can work the rest out for yourself but over 10 yards its far harder to predict and stop dead. I have been reading different strategies and trying each. This one looks good I'll give it a "chip"

This one looks good I'll give it a "chip" I notice that when chipping from the edge of the green there is no elevation information so make sure you consider if it looks up or downhill as it will impacts the roll of the chip. They don't always stop dead. Use best judgement to identify the yardage between each lift line also. Write it down as you will need it.

You both must have great control of the backswing with the flop to be able to be consistent with the flop for anything either between 12 and 30 yards if back spin is likely and 12 and 18 yards or so if it isn't. I envy that!

I envy that! my worst shot in the game is between 12-18 yards, have to hit a 30 yrd flop shot about 60% so it dont spin but sometimes i hit 55%-70%, so very inconsistent.
