Is there going to be a rule against doing this? Please say yes, unless there is an obstacle.
I don't care if it's allowed in real golf. The bottom line is that no one does it unless there is a barrier in the way.

Are you volunteering to head up the committee to monitor it? (please say yes!)

No, I'm checking with the Rules Committee to see if they are going to monitor that while checking for straight shooters? The bigger question right now is.... is it illegal to do so in TGCT? People playing against other's ghost balls can certainly report it.

"There will be no rule against chipping on the greens. If it gets out of hand we'll revisit. This is not a green light to chip away - it is a green light to bring out the LW when you have an obstacle in the way or you're too far away for a full putt to make"
So there is a rule but you aren't calling it a rule?

People playing against other's ghost balls can certainly report it. When you say report it - are you taking a video and uploading it or are you expecting us to load up the ghost ball and try and find it. It's a logistical nightmare to police and to be honest, we've got so much on our plate that there's just no time to properly police it unless we add more people like yourself that take an interest in keeping it minimized. I'm sure once you give it some thought (policing 700 people) you'll come to the same conclusion as we did as an admin. For what it's worth, I didn't notice any repetitive chipping on the greens in the countless ghost balls I checked during Q-School.

Not rehashing it all over again.

On the console side, it's easy to get video proof because we can do that with the touch of a button on PS4/XB1
Also, if one person reports it with a ghost ball, anyone else - not just a TGCT official - could verify they saw it too.
I'm pretty much just doing some rule checks to make sure I personally know the rules going in. this was one issue that I didn't find until you provided the link, much appreciated for that.

We still like to have repetitive chippers reported just so we chat with them. But we aren't prepared to make a hard rule on it because we aren't able to effectively police it - and I'd much rather be playing golf than watching ghost balls in my free time

I don't see a problem of being allowed to chip on the green, as long as it is not abused. I have played against a few ghost balls where the player has used a flop shot on the green when there really was no need to.
If I am just off the green on the fringe and within chipping range, I will nearly always chip the ball as I seem to get better results, which is what I would normally do IRL.
I personally have played some sort of chip/flop when I have seen no way of getting close to the hole when putting, but probably only a handful of times in all of my rounds?. For me this is a last resort and will always putt if I can, but there are times when you would be more or less giving away a shot by putting, as there is a major obstacle in the way that would make it impossible to get near the hole.

I agree, that's why i mentioned obstacles.

Why are we going over this again? Read the original thread that was referenced and someone lock this one!
I think that if you want to flop or chip outside of the grid lines ob the green then I don't have a problem with that! Just my opinion

with no rule in place, perhaps all the course designers need to start making tiny greens?
