Topic header pretty much says it all. I've only owned this game for a few days now, only discovered it last week, but I'm completely enthralled; TGC is an excellent golf game.
I'm just wondering though, when TGC 2 comes out later this year, will existing courses be compatible, or will we all be starting from scratch? The real world courses are more of an appeal for me than fantasy courses, so with only the built-in fantasy courses and no PGA licensing, it's up to the community. I'm worried the sequel may leave things split if there's no "backwards compatibility" so to speak for the created courses.

It is my understanding that you will be able to bring courses over to TGC 2 from TGC.

Awesome. Also, can the created courses for TGC be played in offline mode, or do you have to be online? It's not clear to me if courses are downloaded/loaded locally, or if it needs an internet connection to access.

This however is limited to unpublished courses. If you want to play a course you created and published, there is a way to save it locally. I make it sound like a difficult super secret, but it is easy. Courses can be ported to tgc2 as I understand it. I don't think any will port automatically, so it's up to the original designer to decide. Also it would require a purchase of tgc2 on the same platform as you previously played tgc on. Confusing enough? Also, when it comes to tgc2 we are all guessing based off early indications from hb. We have absolutely no clue what we are talking about really

Has anyone heard anything more about TGC 2 besides what we heard in the announcement that there would be a TGC 2? Thought I had heard they would periodically update us but I haven't heard anything myself. Just curious. Thanks.

Last I heard from Anthony a few days ago is that they are mainly doing background stuff that isn't really visible. The game is making steady progress, but they are unwilling to show or give anything yet as they want to be able to show us something improved visually since last time. Once they get closer to beta stage they will intensify community interactions, dev diarys and such. Release is Still planned for March I believe

I really don't like "online" stuff like that, as it's a case of "what if it stops receiving support?" or "what if the servers go down?" I like my games to be self contained in that sense. It would be disappointing if something like that were to happen. I wish there were a way to actually download courses locally. I mean, the game does have an offline mode.

I'm fairly certain that if the servers were to be taken down the pc users would pull down copy of their work to be able to use offline. Consoles is a different story though. HB has told us to not worry. As long as they are around in one form or another the servers will be aswell
