really like the view on hole 10 The par 3 with hole 11 in the background? >>>>>>>>> Tried for ages to get a decent angle... That's the best I could come up with & gave up in the end hence it didn't make the top 10 above.

Nice course thru the 5th hole rage quit after my approach shot trickled and I mean trickled past the hole all the way off and down.... Sorry Ranger welikeitroughnc........... I tested that pin roll out multiple times when designing & yes your ball will roll off if you approach it too hard.... but it needs to be significantly more than a "trickle" to send it on it's way. Here's some examples of what I would call a little more than "a trickle and I do mean more than a trickle" rolling up to & past the pin on both sides of the cup & holding the green. Perhaps your interpretation of "trickle and you did mean trickle" is different to mine? I take it the course has not been approved for the database now as your Ranger report will deem #5 as unfair? Hopefully the evidence above will prompt you to change your mind? Thanks for your hard work & efforts that go mainly unappreciated in your roll as a Ranger... keep up the good work.

I havent done any rangering on this course sam and im not a reviewer this was just a casual playthrough i make of all the cc design competition courses as a token of my appreciation for all the designers and hard work they put in i havent done any sort of report saying it was unfair and have not mentioned this to anyone until i posted it here the course looks great from what ive played rockwork is great just felt unfair to me but its just my opinion i had hit the shot into a headwind as well so that should have helped but as i said its just my opinion.

Not Impressed by this response Someone scarifices all their time and effort and love into creating a course and this is what you reply with Honestly not here to impress you or anyone else honestly im merely providing feedback on a part of the course i saw as being a bit unfair. If you took it wrong thats on you i know personally the only way for me to get better with each course is to have someone give me honest feedback when they encounter a problem theyve had with one of my courses. Sam is a top notch designer and one of his courses was questioned recently in a tour event i saw no issues with it personally but he took it well he is a well known designer and knows what hes doing not to mention hes a class act. The above statement i made was intended to be of help and feedback i was not ugly in any way. And believe me i know about sacraficing time on a course just to have it ignored or ripped apart so dont act like im saying something out of the way im bluntly honest. but what do i know im not a well known or top designer so who cares what i think or say...

Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I have to completely disagree here. I played the course last night (awesome work, Sam, for the record) and don't remember this hole being unfair at all. The video really tells the tale. You've got no wind to speak of, medium firmness and 180 green speed. In each instance, the ball rolled out about 11 yards and stopped. You've got a green that is at least 25-30 yards deep and there is no forced carry. Even in a 20 MPH tailwind you can play a run up shot if you needed to. Of course, with a 20 MPH tailwind, you'd also have a 7 iron instead of a 4 iron and wouldn't need to. My guess is that the rage quit was caused by hitting the approach 8 yards short of the pin instead of 10. But the thing is, there was enough room to hit it 20 yards short and leave a 25 footer for an easy 2 putt par. This is a good example of risk/reward. You can hit it close, but you risk bogey or worse if you don't pull it off. There is absolutely nothing unfair here. Just my .02

I played your course Sam the other day. Nicely done. I don't think I've ever played anything else you've published, at least to my knowledge anyways, but I thought you had some interesting ideas on this one.
I had the same thing happen on what I guess is the 5th hole with the cliff and my ball rolled down it. I hit an excellent shot I thought and the ball rolled back and literally was coming to a stop about two or three feet away from the edge and I literally said out loud oh thank God it's going to stop. Only to have it find the smallest amount of momentum and off to the bottom I went, sad because it so looked like it was stopping. I still made par I'm pretty sure. I don't find this unfair personally as on my first course I did something similar to what you've done here. I like the idea behind it completely. Just wished mine had stopped. Would've been nice to putt for birdie instead of par after feeling like I had a good approach shot. But that's the idea I think you had behind doing what you did. Which is why I'm okay with it. Haha. Nobody likes the way I did it on my course. It's evil to play LOL
Nicely done though and looking forward to seeing what the judges think about our courses head to head. Good luck to ya

To everybody that's chipped in above.... Good discussion & debate guys....... thanks. Apologies Mitch ( welikeitroughnc ), I wasn't aware of what the Rangers specific duties are.... so I may have overreacted a tad in my reply to you. I think what wound me up was when you reiterated the "trickled" with "& I mean trickled." If you hadn't added that spice to your observation I would of just smiled to myself knowing you'd played the shot wrong. By the way... easy flop shot for a bird or tap in par from the bottom of that mountain And, thanks for your kind words about my designs, techniques & character... If I had an olive branch I would hand it to you!! Hey! Adam....... I was amazed when I checked the in game course database that the name "Willowbank" wasn't amongst the 120k available to play. I take it that's Wick in Bonny Scotland? Yours is "Vansittart" I believe? Mines named after a farm in Droylsden Manchester that I used to drive past whilst working on the Stagecoach Buses a few years ago.

Spend a lot of time in the ATL..
