Is it just me or is there something suspicious about owning this game on all 3 platforms? This is just my opinion but was wondering how others feel about it?? With all the scandal lately with boom boom and different IP addresses it's got me thinking.why would someone want the same game on 3 different consoles? It's a big waste of money for a start. Maybe I'm paranoid but what's stopping them signing in on xbox or ps4 under a guest profile and playing the tour in advance to get the feel for the wind, firmness etc?It also opens up the potential for multiple accounts I'd assume. Maybe I'm wrong Or is it for the ghost ball watchers?making sure they can load up the best ghosts and have a selection of all ghosts. Clearly it must have some advantage? It just baffles me I've played some great games in my lifetime and not once has it ever crossed my mind to go '' Umm I think I'll buy that game again but this time for my Xbox'' Anyway just my opinion and throwing it out there to see what people think. Thanks for reading :-) My opinion on the amount of cheats is not highly rated around here based on prior discussion on such unfortunate matters, but you're certainly not onto something new here mate. Obviously people can own it on multiple systems and play fair, but it also provides an easy way to circumvent the rules it seems. Hopefully there's technology in place through the api to catch this, but then there's also circumstances where housemates could be TGCT'ers. For the life of me I still don't understand how people can play on pc and not just use some sort of straight edge, at least in those crucial moments. It's my general opinion that if there's a way to gain an advantage in an unfair manner, even in an interweb game of golf for what my wife refers to as "fake nerd monies", then certain people will do whatever is capable within their skill set. And this is all so much better than dealing with wind waiters back in the early days.......

I've often thought that if one needed to make a certain shot either to carry water or hit out of heavy rough then they could straight edge just once and get away with it but that's life and the guys are doing a great job here at tgc and I'm sure it is a handful of work to police

I switched from PS4 to PC in Spring 2015 as i was having horrible 90 something % shot problems on the PS4, particularly on Tree Heavy courses. Playing competitively became almost impossible so i switched over. Much smoother experience on PC so i mostly play on it, but still use the PS4 for practice and the odd tournament if i find the course runs ok on it. Don't see why anyone would risk playing the same event on more than one platform to "map". Between unlimited practice, watching twitch and ghost balls there are more than enough "legal" ways to do it As a guy that posted twice in this thread already that has the game on PS4 and XB1, I have decided to build a gaming PC, so I will have this game on that platform too. Not building the gaming PC for TGCT per se s I have other uses for it and have been thinking about the build for some time. But I am hoping to use my stock PS4 controller and the known software to make it work. No funny business. If that does not work well then I will continue to play on PS4 and not using the PC. No intentions to play this game using a mouse. Don't care if anyone accuses me of doing so...I welcome the TGC police to look at whatever I am doing. As long as they cannot see and hear me in a rage fit...LOL
Anyway, I hope to build the PC next week, get it up and running my next weekend sometime, then start practicing. But if I decide to make the switch, I prolly won't do so until the end of this season. And my gamertag/name will be the same as it is on XB1 and PS4.
Yup, I am looking for an advantage...a way to elevate my game, because the 94% shots and lag on PS4 I feel is one of the things keeping my game from going anywhere at this point. And if I a building the PC anyway, why not try it for TGCT? But I am absolutely certain that anything I do to this end will be all within the rules and without cheating.
So AFCTUJacko why did you decide to use an XB1 controller over a PS4 controller on your PC rig? Did you try both? I have both but I suck with XB1 controllers especially under pressure due to the lack of resistance on the thumbstick...

I bought a Xbox 360 controller. Hates it. I bought it as I had for some reason got the idea a ps4 does not work. Turns out it does. No software needed. Just plug it in with a USB cable. The pc will recognize it as a Xbox controller and will display it's buttons, but it works the same. My game haven't improved one bit though. This was more as a response to your controller question

mrooola ...Thanks for the reply. Good to know I can just plug and play a PS4 controller - I can live with the XB1 icons... Forgetting if you ever played using a PS4 console. If not my question here does not apply, but if you did, then I would assume the PC will help with the lag issue and hopefully some with the 94% PS4 shots?. Those are two of my big "system" related issues. Lag is a real problem especially trying to hit partial strength shots as the movement of the club is jerky and skips. Same to lesser degree with putting. The issues with XB1 controller and me is I tense up still quite a bit in tournament play. When that happens, without the resistance on the thumb stick, I am apt to push forward less than straight. The resistance on the PS4 thumb stick counteracts that a little. The XB1 is so free moving that when I slice or hook, I mean I SLICE and HOOK! Less pronounced with PS4 controller. Just trying to eliminate or reduce the effects of the system and hardware issues that I cannot control otherwise. The rest of the improvements in my game will have to come from 1) Learning to judge wind better, particularly the non linear relationship with headwinds/partial cross winds, 2) nerves - need to play more tournaments until I can be more confident and relax (only been at this for a little over 2 months) 3) putting by feel instead of trying to rely on the "boomboom" method which is close but no cigar for me a lot. 4) And getting better with 15-20yd shots near the green where I am too far off the green to use chipping and have to either pitch or flop. (Hoping the PC will help the partial strength pitch). What I tend to do with pitching is to multiply the distance I need the ball to go by 1/2 + a little bit. Loft the club to that percentage, then try to swing at 50-60%.... Works great when there is no lag and I am not nervous (like in practice). Much harder to do if lag and in tournament play... I had a quad bogie just last night in a tournament from this very issue... ruined a spectacular round...

I played on ps4. Never had much trouble with sub 100% then or now. I don't feel a huge difference in how the Xbox and the ps4 sticks reacts, but the smaller size of the ps4 fits my hands better than the Xbox.

Very interesting reading here and all thoughts of cheating aside I can see why people might want the game on a PC for the designer or great graphics or something along those lines. I never see the whole joypad argument as justification to buy on another platform as to me both Xbox and PS4 have good controllers that have an analogue stick that you have to swing back and fourth and it's not like your a high handicapper using a new set of blades for the first time that you can't hit. It would be interesting to see how many of the top 50 have the game on more than 1 platform and for anyone that owns it on a number of platforms do you's buy all your other games multiple times? If not why is TGC so special, maybe Kyne has been using subliminal messaging ;-) Either way I'd love to have some of the money you guys are dropping on tech to be honest

My personal experience with PS4 and XB1 I have already shared in this thread. But my experience on PC, which is still evolving, has been much improved over the consoles. My swing habits, particularly on PS4 had become so bad trying to counteract the lag and the less than 100% hits. I would pull the stick back, pause for what seemed like forever, then ram the stick forward hard. Try to do that accurately when your nervous in a tournament and your sphincter is all clenched and your hands are a bit twitchy.
With the PC (using a stock PS4 controller, on Bluetooth, no software, sensitivity dialed down some in the TGC game options screen), I rarely have a less than 100% hit, and when I do it is usually 98%. Not having to worry about that lag has made it so I can pull back on the stick, not pause a great amount of time and push the stick forward with the same lack of brute force (more like a real golf swing which goes wonky if you try and muscle it - a nice steady relaxed swing motion). This has led me to being able to look at the screen when swinging and as long as I keep a steady grip on the controller, don't rush the swing, and do not push down on the stick, the swing is naturally straighter. I still will slice and pull shots a little (usually within the cone), but nowhere like I was before (massive slice and hook usually at the worst possible time like going for the green in 2 on a par 5 over water). So far, even playing in the tournaments, its a much more relaxing experience. Again my experience is still evolving on PC, but so far so good. And improving my game (legally) has been the whole point in my getting the game on all three platforms.
Since I built my PC, I have not played a tournament round nor a practice round on either console. That said, I have a few "friends" on PS4. And have been thinking about practicing with them on PS4 (and seeing if the relaxed swing technique works for PS4 too). I don't see anything wrong with that. They are CCer's as well, so it's not like I am trying to take advantage of ghosts...
