I just want to share a golf story here, just a little pumped about what happened tonight. So I'm a 6 handicap, tonight I was out playing. Hadn't played in a month, got 2 young kids at home so I get occupied. Start slow, then play a stretch of 9 holes at -6 (with back to back eagles) an all time low, then birdie the next hole to go -7 through a 10 hole stretch. Finished with a couple bogies. Overall a phenomenal round for this guy. Wasn't a career low or anything overall but never put something like that together over almost 30 years of playing this great game. Not sure why I'm sharing this, I guess just for anyone struggling with there actual game, sh*t you never know when magic (luck) whatever you want to call it will happen. Or maybe I just want to enjoy what happened. Either way damn I love this game.

That's awesome . Sounds more like TGC with those scores! I've never even come close to back to back eagles Thought I would share my best... Best streak I ever had was -5 for last 9 holes to win our Junior Club Championship over 10 years ago now. I was +3 for the round at the time (2nd and final round, several shots off the lead) and found myself in the trees on 9 needing to chip out sideways. From there I got up and down from 150yards for Par and followed up with 2 birdies, after a few pars I then birdied 15,16,17 and stuck it to about 10ft on 18. At that point I think nerves got the better of me as I left that putt about an inch short but dead centre. -2 was the best score I ever put together in an actual qualifying round. I didn't take the lead until the 15th, my playing partners had ruled me out of the running earlier on in the round so my determination to prove them wrong gave me a strange kinda focus. I love how clearly I remember that round all these years later. As you say, can hit you when you least expect it

Sounds awesome Chris. I got back into the real thing a couple of months ago after a couple of years not playing. Finding it a bit of a struggle but determined to stick at it. No better feeling than hitting a good shot. Maybe one day i'll be telling a similar story rather then fist pumping at making a shoddy Par

It certainly is a weird place mentally getting hot like that, it's pretty easy to get ahead of yourself and start having these illusions that you're not going to hit a bad shot all day, it's also easy to start thinking "just don't blow it". I know I started thinking man I could shoot 29 here (par 36), hit a couple questionable shots and then got the head back into the actual shots I was hitting, thankfully. That's crazy that you still remember it that vividly, I had a similar type finish to a Junior event (far more than 10 years ago) and all I remember is 4 approach shots, and the only thing I clearly remember (club, distance, how close I hit it) was the approach into 18. Hopefully you can find some magic like that again one day soon here

Nothing wrong with fist pumping pars either, that's the beauty of golf, everybody can have different things to be excited about and still enjoy playing a round together. Probably wouldn't work so well with varying skills in stuff like hockey, football (soccer), baseball and so on. Glad to here you're playing again, I've always wondered what type of golfers people are around here, and if there's people that are right into this but don't even like or play real golf.

I love a good golf story. Had my first round of the year at the weekend and drove a par 4 to 10 feet. Could have had my first ever eagle but I lost my cajones and under hit the putt. Still, got the birdie.
Some lovely shaped greens aswell. Some people around here would have a field day moaning about all the red slopes I was putting up :-p
One hole I was at green edge for 2 but the pin was up on a 3 yard deep higher tier. Insanely hard. Ended up with an 8.

That's a great story! You shared it here because we're all golf fans. This seems a perfect place to share golf stories. I don't really have any. I've been playing for many years and pretty much just shoot in 70's on good days, but average days, which is most of the time, I'm in the 80's. personally, I think that's pretty good for a guy who doesn't practice. Most of all, it's just great being on the golf course.

My best stretch was playing a quick 9 here in Florida (age 48, about 7 years ago) trying to beat the oncoming summer lightning storms. 1st hole par 5, I missed an easy 3 foot birdie putt and when I got to the 2nd green I thought, "maybe I'll try that crazy claw grip". I had about 15 feet for birdie and fiddled around with several grips until finally trying one and I rolled the birdie in the cup! I laughed out loud. Next hole hit a 4 iron (par 3) to about 25' and once again went to the claw. The birdie putt rolled on line and into the cup! Another laugh out loud as this was crazy. 4th hole was a short par 4 and I had about 70 yards in for my 2nd shot. I went with a 60 degree lofted wedge and the shot (just like TGC) hit 4 feet past the hole, jumped forward, and then spun back into the hole for an eagle. (-4 after four!) Next hole is a brutal par 4 with water left and right and after a 6 iron found the green, I was happy to 2 putt for par. When I got to the 6th the storm was approaching, so no time to think..just hit it! A nice drive down the middle left an 8 iron, and the 6th green is extremely sloped, so unless you hit it close, no chance for par and probably bogey. My 8 iron was high with a draw and ended up just 10 inches right of the cup. Tap in birdie to go 5 under. #7 is another tight driving hole with water down the left and trees right, but another true drive left a 9 iron into the green. The winds started seriously picking up and I could now hear the thunder clapping, so a quick look and a not so great shot left me about 25 feet for birdie. The putt was up and over a hill sloping right, but again I took the claw grip and stroked the putt. Dead center! -6 after 7 holes. All of a sudden, I realized I had a real shot of breaking 30. #8 is a par 3 of about 167 and the wind was now strong into and across. (Damn angled winds!) I hit a punch 6 iron and it held the wind nicely ending up only 8 feet left of the cup. A brutal left to right putt to go -7 after 8 hit the cup and spun out...damn. The nice thing is the last hole was a reachable par 5 and I bombed a drive and had a long iron into the green. My 2nd shot rolled up on the green and was about 18 feet away. As I got the the green, the lighting was flashing (no rain) and it was scary, but I stood over a putt to shoot 28! I was super nervous at this point and just wanted to 2 putt. My eagle putt missed on the low side (don't they all?) and I tapped in for 29. I went to the pro shop and was told that was the course record (the club had three 9 hole courses). To think it started out with a missed easy putt and had another graze the hole was crazy. I really think that that day I could have broken 60, but mother nature (and the golf gods who had clearly given me more than my share) decided that was enough as the rain and lightning started as I walked into the club. But what a day and I can remember it as clearly as any memory I have in my 40 year golf career.

My golf story....
It's much shorter than that, I started taking lessons back in september. Golf is something that had always atracted me, but never had said "Stop Pablo, freaking do it". But in september I started going to a school here in downtown Madrid (a 50 places 300+yards driving range and a 9 holes pitch & putt - It's not made of natural grass, but to learn is ok). Since then, I've been going every single tuesday at 7 pm for my weekly one hour class. The first two months I barely could hit the ball, but I kept improving. Nothing amazing, for sure, I improve even slower than in TGC, but hey, by winter I could hit the ball (and sometimes straight) with the shorter clubs, and from time to time with the medium irons.
When the spring was arriving I started thinking of getting my own clubs (in the school I use theirs, a good set of old wilson), and I did it, I bought the 2016 wilson prostaff set (Driver, 3w, two hybrids, 6i to sw and m5 harmonized putter). I took part in a friendly tournament held in my school's pitch & putt and felt quite confortable with my game (for a total noob, no miracles either). I already signed up to keep getting classes the next year (september to july) and have had the chance to go to a couple of nine hole courses to practice. My game is still extremely poor, as should be, but hey, I will improve. My woods and hybrids still don't obey me, but I'm in love with this game, and that's all you need to improve. Love what you do. Maybe in a couple of decades I can win @brownief104...

Good to see some guys just picking up the game or getting back into it. pablo that's certainly the right attitude, just go out enjoy it and you'll be amazed how much it can come along if you work at it. @brownie104, damn a 29, I'm jealous never been able to stay hot enough to pull that one off.

Yeah I love a good golf story. I have quite a vivid memory for several rounds over the years... most of them are when against an opponent who thinks they gots me beat... those are always the sweetest victories . On the flip side I remember being dormie 7 down and then losing after 3 putting from 10ft on the 18th to tie the hole and lose 1 down... not so good that one Hope we get to hear a few more of peoples stories

Just played today for the first time since early June when I did the longest day golf challenge (4 rounds in 1 day). Started off okay with a par, and was playing to handicap until the 8th hole. 126yd par 3, course was playing firm, picked my PW, landed short, rolled over the small round at the front of the green, ran on a bit and then dropped in the hole without touching the flagstick. My first ever HIO in real life and was a joy to watch it drop in the hole. The nearest I've been before was about 6 inches but that was uphill and didn't realise how close I was until I got to it. Took the ball straight out of play and will put it somewhere on display. Of course golf being golf, I hit the following drive straight oob lol, but I did not care one bit.
