Hi, New here! I have been playing TGC for a few months now and stumbled across this great community. I had signed up Thursday but saw the note about not starting Q School at end of month and knew I wouldn't be able to play 6 rounds in a day, especially since I like to play 1 practice round on new course first. I logged in on the PS4 now and searched for "tgctours.com" under tours and don't yet see a QSchool for July. I only see the June one. Sorry if I am a bit impatient, just eager to get started

It'll probably be set up tonight when all the rest of next week's events are set up. The next week's tournaments are usually set up Friday night or Saturday morning.

Thanks ErixonStone. Saw the July one open up last night late. Didn't want to start it when sleepy though lol. Looks like same courses as last month. Got 68 on my first practice round and driving distance record . Going for another practice round maybe later today and then off to the tour.

I need a pep-talk Started June Q-school but did something wrong... figured that was for the best because I'd only had the game for two weeks at that point and was bombing anyways, shot about 85+ on each round. For the last week or so have been practicing the Q-school courses, getting ready for July Q school... got to the point where I could reliably shoot -5 on the first course (Beaver something?). Was shooting somewhere between E and +7 on the other courses (except the desert course, would usually shoot under for that). Was feeling pretty good! Have spent tons of time reading about the game, strategy, charts, etc. Was sooooo stoked last night to start July Q school! Started out great last night, birdies on first two holes! Then... the wind... from hole three onwards, never saw wind less than 10 mph, and it was REGULARLY 15 MPH+. I had no idea what I was doing. Bogeys started coming in, then the double bogeys. It started getting mental, and I was missing putts from under ten feet, even under five feet. The wind was affecting even my little 4 yd LW pitches... I started to doubt everything that had made me confident in the past week. By hole 15, I just wanted to be done. Finished at +11 or +12, which is the WORST I've ever done on that course BY FAR. When I woke up this morning, I was hoping it was all just a bad dream How do I recover? I went in thinking that I could shoot -5 or better on the first course and use that momentum to bolster my confidence for the rest of Q school. Now I'm starting out in the shitter and facing courses that I already struggle with! Gaahhh

Oh, I'm Dylan by the way. Been lurking for a bit, glad to be here. Starting golfing "IRL" this summer, LOVE it. Screwed up my knee so haven't been able to hit the links for about a month. TGC has definitely helped sate my lust for golf in the meantime. It's a very, very accurate simulation. Especially mentally/emotionally

The best advice I could give is to let the round go and do your best on the next round. Lower your expectations and have fun. You end up where you end up, and eventually, once you start playing tournaments, you'll start moving up.
I find that "I'll do my best and I finish where I finish" attitude helps me play my best. Then I start putting pressure on myself and my game slips (especially putting)

Registration for this week's tournaments and next week's tournaments is closed. On Monday, however, you'll be able to late-register for next week's event.
To do that, click on the "Submit Score" link next to the tournament. You'll be sent to the registration screen and you'll be able to register.
Regular registration closes for an event on the Friday before the event officially opens. You can late-register on the Monday when it officially starts.

I saw your ghost out there errol1967. Your tee shots looked solid which is where I struggled early on in my first month of playing the game. Would get the dreaded "greasy" swing every third hole or so causing my scores to just soar into the 90's on courses of greater difficulty. Looked like putting is where you had the most difficulty, but still way better than when I started . I feel this just comes with practice as you get a feel for the breaks and green speeds. Those downhill putts are just killer. I sometimes just give it a tap (like it's a 5 footer) if it's a straight downhill with grade of 6 in or more) and just try to leave it inside 4 feet for par. If I go after the hole and missed I'm left with > 15 ft for par. I'd recommend practicing in the course designer where you can make a "practice course" and then pick spots on the green and just practice putts. You can shape the green and speeds to your liking and then just keep rewinding if you miss until you get a good feel for things. Also check out this post as it helped me: www.hb-studios.com/forum/index.php?topic=7889.0. There's also tons of tips around the forums for calculating carry distance in cases of wind and elevation. I had a couple incredible rounds but then there were 3 holes across different rounds where I 4 or 5 putted - what a nightmare one side to the other just missing the break. Caused me to miss the A Challenge circuit by 2 strokes (-18) but I guess it all evens out in the end. My forehead sure hurt from all the face palms on those lol. Was jealous of your birdie on 17 on the Player's Championship as I needed that to make the next tier and just missed it and ended up with 3-putt boges . I also am planning on starting golfing IRL. Couple buddies of mine offered to lend me their clubs as they stopped playing.

Hey mate, tnx for the reply, I opened some ports in my router and forwarded it and atm I have no crashes whatsoever, so it's good for now, but it's true, my putting is worse. I was reading some tips of Doyle in this forum and it's a bit better now, so next season I will be moving up .
