Welll.....it sucks to be throwing up a course when an Arctic Fury design is front and center, but whatever. Smuggler's Loch now published. Think greens are at 165, with firmness around 10 o'clock. Fairway firmness closer to noon. (As always a huge thank you to Karma for the photos!!!)

You have nothing to worry or even be concerned about releasing this course compared to others. With St xavier this is the course ive most enjoyed in the last few months great open feel and love the hole design, rewards good shots but the greens just tough enough to be a test.Im not really one for the added things but got to say clubhouse on the 9th one of the best ive seen and this course deserves alot of plays and a suggested list position i think.

This looks fantastic! Nothing to be worried about...many of the designers are great now, which means it's a win win . Will give this a play later

Due to requests from various tours, 4 new versions have been added. Conditions remain exactly the same throughout, only change is pin placements. (And flag color to reflect the version you are playing) Smuggler's Loch (RED) Smuggler's Loch (BLACK) Smuggler's Loch (BLUE Smuggler's Loch (GREEN) ...not that anyone cares....

Just a beauty. Top 10 on my list for most aesthetically appealing courses I've played in this game. Just a gem....a diamond in the rough

Fantastic course. Looking forward to the tourney week. Couldn't help thinking if this course was real life the fear drivers in vehicles would have driving past the 5th tee box!

Wow guys...I'm floored by the comments!! Thank you so much!
Since you guys are enjoying the course so much, maybe I should give you the back story on how it all came about!!
It started out as a me just wanting to try and build the famous floating green from Coeur D'Alene. After I completed that hole, it probably sat on the shelf for a good 2-3 weeks. Then one day I loaded it up one day and said to myself, "You know what would look good...the 7th from Pebble Beach looking down on that floating green!". Off to work I went, creating another tribute hole. Once I finished that one, it went back on the shelf for another couple weeks. (I was working on Manotick National and my Stonebridge courses at the time)
The next time I loaded it up, I made the decision I was going to do 18 holes of tribute to some of my favorite holes...I started with my next hole. The 18th at Sawgrass! After a full night of designing that hole, for some reason, I hated where I had placed it, and felt the sight lines were off from the other 2 holes, it just didn't blend in the way I wanted. I literally Multi selected the whole thing and deleted it, flattened the surface, saved and said "F*#$ it....Xbox Turn off!". The 18 holes of tributes died right then and there, I was close to completing Stonebridge and just sick of doing re-creations!
At this point it's important to note, that I had no intention of completing this course....it was just somewhere I went to dick around in the designer.
The next time I loaded up the course was immediately before I built the Clubhouse for Manotick National, I was trying all sorts of different things in combining clubhouses to give me something unique, something different. (it's in my goofing around here the first tee of Manotick was conceived.), but through that goofing around, I also built this kind of cool clubhouse, I personally never really thought much about. I wanted trees to line the entrance like Augusta up to the Island clubhouse, but the sheer size of the trees didn't work for the look, and ultimately took away from the clubhouse. I tried using bushes around the island, fences....but it was all 'Meh"....seemed too busy. So I just left it as is. Did some planting to beautify the entrance.
Back on the shelf the course went for a good month, maybe even 2.
The next hole was the 9th, I wanted this hole to come right in on that clubhouse entrance. The sight line had to be perfect! That hole all fell together rather nicely.
The next hole was the current 18th...oh boy, what a hole. That hole was built, destroyed, and rebuilt, THREE TIMES! I couldn't get it right the way I wanted. Initially it was to have an elevated green rising up from the water. (think 18th at the Twenty Ten Course). But it didn't work, then it didn't dogleg enough to bring the clubhouse into view. Finally, it became about the tee shot. With wind in your back you should be able to hug the water edge and carry it to give yourself a second shot into the green. The pin position had to scare and entice at the same time!
Once that 18th hole was done, it was the point where I realized I needed to complete it, I was liking what I was doing. (Manotick was done and published at this point) The biggest problem I ran into was mapping, or actually....re-mapping. the 17th hole HAD to be the floating green and I really wanted the current 9th and 18th to be flipped, but I could not get it to work in the layout. I'm all about sight lines, I like giving glimpses of what's ahead. Sure I could have just mapped the holes and who would really know...other than ME! (Which would have annoyed me every time I played it!). So I left it as is an went about filling out the rest of the course.
A few other weird things from my design head. I thought of the 1st and 10th as the "Twins", they run side by side , straight ahead. Like two # 1's, or an 11 (1+10)....Weird I know, but it was my design motivation. The Par 3, 13th was initially only 110 yards, and got stretched as one of the very last things in my design process. In my mind I expected people to hate the 14th hole more than any other, any sort of wind in your face would make this a play for par hole. Smugglers was built with the Average golfer in mind (like myself), I didn't care if the elites destroyed it, it was being built for the masses!
Hope you enjoyed this little story as much as you enjoy the course. It`s lads like you that keep me designing!!
Cheers fellas! Brent

edit:
The Par 3, 14th was initially only 110 yards, and got stretched as one of the very last things in my design process. In my mind I expected people to hate the 15th hole more than any other, any sort of wind in your face would make this a play for par hole.
