Beginner golfers can find it difficult to understand all of the course etiquette. This article will guide players to the correct etiquette on the course (real life). Could be applied to TGC I guess, so be sure to tell your partner to read the rules when you're playing TGC... forethehole.com/golf-course-etiquette/

It wasn't until I started golfing with my father in law (2 years into playing) that I was corrected not to walk in other's lines.
To this day, I still think it's a stupid rule. Just by standing and moving around on the green you are altering a future golfers putting line and others probably walked the line just before you're putt.
That being said, I still never do it out of courtesy. I view it like the baseball superstitions of not stepping on the foul lines or never to discuss an ongoing no hitter/perfect game.

It's more of a visualization thing to me, just like I wouldn't want someone dancing behind the hole

I see nothing in those rules about requiring us to wear pants.

So the idea is that the footprints are gone by the next group
