It seems to me that people could just play a round outside the tournament and get the ball where they are at in the real tournament and know exactly how to hit that shot/putt. I know the wind wouldn't be the same for shots but for putts/chips it would be the same thing. Is there anyway to police this? I know there has to be some people doing it.

If someone wants to put that type of effort into it, so be it.

And even the top top players would not.be able to put it on the same spot on the green with different winds even they would be a few feet out here and there which makes a massive difference on putts This doesn't happen

Would be futile. The Machine and Birdie Brad would still win.

If guys can place their ball on a practice round exactly where it was in the tournament round, in different winds, then they really don't need to practice

It wouldn't require that much effort just waiting on load times. They wouldn't need to hit their approach shot to the same spot they could keep putting it until they get to the same spot. I'm not saying they would do it on every hole but if it's coming down to the final round I bet your ass some people have done it.

Many folks play practice tourneys leading up to the event.. Some play them several times.. Then they play the event and do worse than they did in practice..

I only got to the top 10 in WGR by doing exactly this. Then my wife left me, I live on a diet of Cheetos and Mountain Dew, I built a basement in my parents house to live in. But I won that one tournament.

But I won that one tournament. Lol that was great. In all reality though a good player might only be unsure about a putt/chip about 5 times a round so they just play a round outside the tournament and play up to these points and it saves them 5 shots. It would only add like an hour to each round... I refuse to believe that some of these people make sidehill putts every time on this first try. The thought of this happening helps me sleep at night and keeps my chest clean of Cheetos crumbs

Not on topic, but almost.
I found this on the rules page, and find it very interesting.
All previously played holes are wiped and you continue from where glitch put you as your official score. Joining friends in tournaments has been known to reset your progress back to the first tee in Round 1.

Me and digsb are talking about playing our round 4 of the CC tournament live against each other tomorrow. Is this not a good idea?

I don't think anyone is doing this. Some are just better at the game, period. Having some golf knowledge helps, playing the game a lot helps...I'm close to 2000 rounds I think?? Understanding the wind, the putting formula, knowing yardage lofting up one bar on key clubs helps...it's a combination of things. Being able to hit it straight is REALLY important. Me personally, i play a very fast round on the upcoming course to simply check to see firmness, risk reward holes, and to check if there's any kind of tricky stuff going on, and that's it. Now for something like the Ratel, I will play the course a few times because the difficulty is so high.
