So I'm toying with the idea of creating a course with only one cut of rough...heavy rough. So if you don't make the fairway, you could be seriously screwed on a hole.
I wanted to get the community's view of something like that. If you came across a course with no first cut of rough...thus making the difficulty a lot higher than most courses...would this appeal to you or would you say it's lazy designing and not play it?

I've released two that only had heavy rough... both of them are approved and one hosted the presidents cup... Go for it.

i too have made a few courses without light rough, and one hosted a pga stop. and there have been other courses by other designers hosted without light rough. as long as the fairways are fair, its not lazy. but if you cross that imaginary line between whats a fair fairway and whats not a fair fairway, no light rough does become an issue.

Just make the fairways accessible and go for it.

A tough one this. I love monkey rodeos but I can also play a course with just heavy rough depending on if it plays well. How about a course with just light rough too? No heavy rough. Just light. I find light rough much more interesting than heavy rough. Heavy rough is just a hack out of the rough shot whilst light you can still recover but if it's a carry over water it makes you think.

Are we still talking golf? I guess so or there would be an option for just fairway for those that like Brazilian courses!

If you want to make a course that plays more like real golf, eliminate the fairways. Just have light and heavy rough. HB Studios needs to make play off the fairways a little less predictable.
