never thought id say shooting a 59 (-12) was rubbish. left loads out there & not impressed with my new putter either, even managed a bogey on 17.

Fully dressed and ready to go for round two. Like yesterday, a straightforward birdie start, fairway, green short birdie putt. To make round two, that's what I have to do, get the basics right and take any birdie chances that come along. I put myself in good position after my drive on the second to go for the green in two but a bad bounce sent my ball flying off the back of the green well into the rough. For a change I judged my flop shot right and left myself with a tap in birdie. I had a chance to make it three in a row on the third but my putt lipped out. I was putting from the bottom of a slope so it was not easy to read the break, still disappointing when a lip out occurs. I played cautiously on four, making sure I went no where near the water with my tee shot, my approach was good, landing short enough to get a nice roll towards the cup, it rolled past more than I hoped but still left me with a easy enough putt to go three under. Even though I knew I was not going to stop my ball, I went for the green in one, I mean there is always a tiny chance my ball would hit the flag and stop. It never has before but that does not mean it won't someday. Anyway, off the back it went leaving a tricky chip, the chip went close enough for a tap in birdie. I did not pay attention to the green on my approach on six. If I had, I would have tried to leave it below the cup, instead I left it left of the cup and found myself facing a vicious hooking putt. I had to play safe, not worry about birdie, just make sure I gave myself a par putt at least, a gentle putt brought me four feet below the cup and a safe par. I did not find the fairway or green on seven and was relieved to walk away with par, silly mistakes that thankfully went unpunished. I missed the green again on eight but less of a mistake this time, leaving the ball short would have been the mistake here, I could not make the chip but happy with a safe par. The ninth is a hole that always worries me, I am never sure where to aim, I got it wrong this time from the tee but a fantastic approach from the rough left me with just five feet for birdie, which I made to go five under and a good front nine.
The tenth is a hole that I think has to be birdied, a short pitch approach that should be left close. I managed to over hit said approach which left a tricky eight foot putt. I got the line right and was but relieved and happy to walk away with birdie. Another tricky putt faced me on eleven, this time for par after a poor tee shot and poor chip. Again I got the line right, again walked away happy. I tried to play very safe on twelve by leaving my approach as short as possible, the ball still rolled of the back. I was thirteen yards from the cup, normally a shot I would chip but I was on a slope and any chip was going to roll and not stop. Time to play a shot I never played before, a quarter flop. Trying to get my timing right on such a short backswing was not that easy and I over hit it slightly but it was enough to avoid the slope and a easy birdie putt, a good result there, it could have gone so wrong. Thirteen was another hole on which I escaped with par, again I was off the back of the green, I did chip this time but the ball rolled ten feet past the hole, a very good par save, I was not making life easy for myself. I played fourteen well, and it was nice to have a gentle four foot birdie putt after some of the pressure putts on the previous holes. The fifteenth was the scene of yesterday's bush incident so I did my best to avoid a repeat of that, what I did not expect or want was to find myself on the green in one, fifty feet from the hole, a putt I could have done with out. I played the lag putt well so it did work out, just not I shot I expected to play when I stood on the tee box. Sixteen brought more heart stopping moments, my approach looked good, then rolled to far and into the fringe and while I was thinking about my chip shot, rolled of the fringe back onto the green leaving a horrible twenty five foot birdie putt. My worst putt of the round, I got the distance and line wrong, made it just over halfway to the cup. So I was faced with yet another tricky par saving putt and yet again I held my nerve. Two to play, going to need a drink after this. I left a shot behind me on seventeen, my tee shot was good, a relatively straight seven foot putt and I missed. Still not going to complain about one missed putt with so many putt saves during the round. On eighteen, caution was the name of the game, three wood from the tee to make sure I found the fairway, no pin seeking for my approach, just find the green. A twenty eight foot putt to just get close to the cup, except the putt dropped, a unexpected last hole birdie to finish a good round of golf.
Ten under, more than happy with that. What I am happiest about though was the way I played, I took my birdie chances when they arrived but more importantly I saved par on more than one occasion. A days rest for me I think before I head to the third round, good luck all.

OK but not a fantastic performance this week from me. Started with what will eventually be an average start on round 1, giving about three needless shots to the course on the greens. Rounds two and three, I again gave shots to the course but in tougher conditions thought I did okay, whilst watching a few others crumble around me. Four was tough but I actually felt I could have scored a few more birds in the tough conditions and pin positions.
-11 -7 -6 -3 --- -27
Will most probably be outside of the top 30 this week. Now I will be focusing fully on the Spanish Open in the European tour to try and earn a promotion (after playing the Masters with the big guns of course!)
Good luck all!

Oh dear! What an opportunity missed.
With three or four short putts just shaving the hole or lipping, plus a couple of miserably weak attempts from close range my first round was a real disappointment and a case of what might have been.
On the back of this my mind was a bit scrambled and I went chasing in round two in order to make that elusive cut. Not the right mindset on this course as it drives the wrong kind of strategy. So sadly it is back to CC-A next week for me and a real waste of a hard earned exemption.
Who knows, if I manage to get another exemption in the future I may be able to make it the third time lucky. My first attempt (a few months ago) I was not even close. The second attempt I threw away. Fingers crossed I will get another shot in the near future.

Something crazy must have come over me to register for an event that doesn't run in tandem with a major lol!

That's why when I started round 2 5,5 I turned off and got my daughter to hide the controller haha.

Moe Slorkman I wish I could do that. When I go off the rails, I go off them from the rest if the journey.

Moe Slorkman I wish I could do that. When I go off the rails, I go off them from the rest if the journey. Forgot to say, have you seen how close we are in the money standings? I have a conspiracy theory on this. You've had a word with Doyley and got the exemption line extended just so I play up on the Euro for a week and miss out on web.com cash. Well it'll all backfire in your face when I earn my card next week. Oh, did I say that Ian Sweeney is coming round my place to hang out next week? Strange how that'll coincide with me earning my Euro card!!!

This is brutal. Now I have to sit around and watch the Watchers? Not quite sure playing my rounds early is the way to go. I'm getting a little tense here.
