ME: Well I think I might hit some balls at Magnolia today. I've got a competition to play in. MY WIFE: Oh don't be so ridiculous! ME: No dear, everyone's talking about this week's tournament. How hard the course is etc. And yet strangely there are still -10 and -11 being posted! Anyway, so I thought I'd have a go. MY WIFE: When are you going to grow up? ME: If I can get off to a good start, even just a -4 or -5 I would be happy. It's all about keeping calm and thinking positive. Got to make sure I don't let the course get the better of me early in the round. MY WIFE: You are weird. Anyway, I hope you manage to get all those jobs done that we discussed yesterday. I've made you a list as long as a Leonard Cohen song (from the great MT) and that is your priority today. ME: Fairways and greens, fairways and greens!

What's wrong with her? I was leading at Augu.... Magnolia after round one, how is she not impressed with my brief moment of glory? I sometimes wonder if she's got her priorities right.

If only I could bottle my short game for the 2nd round, seriously i'm all over the place, I can only manage 5 rounds a week time wise so practice once & away I go.
1st Round a -5, only 2 bogies & limiting them was the target so OK but not happy with that, GIR stat 77.8 so a little average.
2nd round GIR 61.1%, I missed 7 of them, how the hell did me with my limited play shoot a 60, 12 under on Magnolia. Chipped in on 3 & saved 3 so only one bogey. Bizarre to me, wife seemed nonplussed, even chipping in over a blind high wall bunker shot spin back in !
Anyway, if you'd told me I'd shoot 60 on Magnolia (even if it was the easy day) I'd laugh so pretty happy. Anyway back to reality, normal service will resume next round I'm sure. I've always been a finish 30-50 guy (with random breakouts) & that s how we'll stay.

Yes, I am not sure why my wife can't see how important TGC is, I will never understand women. My wife also calls me weird because I have "fake" friends I talk to. I keep trying to explain that they are real people but she doesn't go for it.

That'll teach me! Went straight in with no practice round and not played since last week. BIG MISTAKE!!
Missed a genuine birdie chance on the first and it then started to go wrong. Was +2 after six holes. Not great. Fortunately I remembered what my dear old grandmother used to say ("If at first you don't succeed I will disown you and the rest of the family you ugly little bastard!"), God rest her. I managed to get back to level by the turn and then played a very strong back nine (29 blows including five 3's). I will take -7 from that start all day long.
Thanks Nana!!

The course gave me nothing on my second round. I was clearly playing for different pins!! Ended -3 and was pretty lucky to get that!!

Started with a bogey after my 7ft birdie put went by, down the hill and off the green!! This was followed by 4 consecutive birdies and then par, birdie, birdie, par for a front nine of 31. All good! No dropped shots on the back left me with another 31 and an overall -10. I suspect this this is in large part due to the list of jobs that my wife left me to do today - which I haven't started yet. I'm sure she will be thrilled when I bundle up to her like a delighted puppy saying "I shot a 62! I shot a 62!!" We shall see!!

I gotcha phoenixjay Better luck next week Im fine being in cc-c I hope stay there thanks, yes its better down there, build up your confidence before moving up as B and A is filled with a lot of hungry players who would love to make the web and in A with only 5 spots and ties to go up, you normally need to score -40 or better week in and on easy courses, -50 would have a chance to move up so one bad round can cost you a strike at times.

A yo-yo last round started birdie, bogey, birdie, bogey. Two more bogeys with only one birdie left me with a 37 front. Only one dropped shot on the back nine (but only two birdies) gave me an even par 72 at the finish. Over the the course of the tournament I'd say I only missed about six shots which I should have got, otherwise it is a fair reflection of my abilities. -20 will not see me get anything I would hope (good or bad!!). .....Yes dear?........Yes dear.........coming dear!!!! sh%$, she's home!!!

Sorry phoenixjay did you get the chores done or not, I am concerned. When my wife was nagging me this week I was mainly working out how I was going to approach the 9th at magnolia. The Xbox wasn't even on....She wasn't impressed.

Well, I wish I could say I am not disappointed, but I am (a little). I hit 63(-9), 66(-6), 67(-5), 65(-7). -27 all up. Normally, I would be happy with that score on this course, however, I left a lot of there. About half a dozen lipouts, even more go an inch to the side, only to keep rolling for another 10+ ft. Even had one go straight over the middle of the hole.
All up, a decent total, but let's see how it holds up.

Awesome tourney. 4th round was the toughest round of golf I've played to date anywhere, and shot 74. Not ready for Web yet. Ways to go.

Not even finishing. Like said already forcing unto play this or nothing is BS.
There's a reason I'm on the CC tour. Playing in the maters isn't one of them. Tired of seeing my shots run back down the hill. I'll take the strike.
