Well, I finally couldn't take my old graphics card anymore with having to shut down the game every 8 holes due to flickering and all sorts of artifacts. So I had a GeForce GTX 970 installed yesterday. Game now plays at 60 FPS and flawlessly.
But here's the problem.
Everything looks different. The resolution has changed. The distance between the golfer's shoes seems to have changed. So in lining up my putts, my old frame of reference point for pulling the putter back based on distance doesn't work anymore. My putts are off. So I have to learn how to putt all over again with new frame of references.
And just when I was starting to get pretty good at this game, currently sitting in 3rd place in this week's event.
Drayton Lakes practice, where I was normally shooting 7 or 8 under per round, I'm not shooting about 3 or 4 under. So I've lost a good 4 or 5 strokes per round due to the putting problem.
Hopefully, it won't take me long to find a new frame of reference and get back on track but next week is going to be a challenge to earn my D card the way I'm playing now.
Any advice is welcome but right now I'm kind of lost out there.

Sometimes bigger isn't better Yeah, but I couldn't keep playing the game with the old card. It was driving me crazy having to restart the game and a lot fo times it would screw up my rhythm. So eventually I'll get my stroke back. Just shot 7 under at Drayton practice on my last round so I'm getting there.

Ya I need a new card as well...I can get 35-40FPS but it still hiccups on some courses. It was stuttering all 4 rounds at Drayton...may have cost me a few strokes

The only advice I can give you my friend is to go back for a bit (I think 1 hr would suffice) on the course designer and generate a random course. Than enlarge the greens to the maximum and flat them out. At that stage you could easily set the green speed same as Drayton (which is 165 for dry and 148 for wet) and trying to get back your reference points. Personally I use the camera n.3 and the point where the shaft is attached to the blade as reference - instead of the feet (but this goes only by feel). BTW how does the new graphic card works? Is it fine? I'm updating my rig too with a similar setup

There are still some conflicts somewhere and I get an occasional crash, but nothing like the way it used to be. I can pretty much play throughout the day with maybe just one or two problems whereas before I had to close the game at least once each round. Also, the game looks much better now with the new card. I'll take your advice about the course but I'm seeing improvement already. I've finished 3 rounds on my latest practice tour at Drayton and shot -4, -9 and -9. The -4 was in very strong winds. My game is really starting to come together and the key, believe it or not, is not putting but my approach shots. They're starting to get a little tighter. Problem is, I'm inconsistent, especially in high winds. But this is the best I've played since starting the tour. I'm really looking forward to my sponsor's exemption week in D. Finished 3rd this week, which has been my highest finish yet. Time to start making my move up.

Very happy for you btw P.S.: Did you change only the video card or the entire system?

Yes, I was very surprised at the high scores for Fossmill. I guess all that practice paid off. I'm just glad I never have to play that course again. LOL.
