Hey everyone, I just purchased the game and finished my first event, it didn't go too well. I wanted to get some practice in on next week's course but when I searched for the course it said I needed to upgrade to the collectors edition. Is it safe to assume that if I don't purchase the upgrade I won't be able to participate in the pcoming tournament event? I searched a few different spots on the forum, but I couldn't find any information about my question.
Thanks for the help!

Basically, yes, you need the collectors edition to play the highlands themed courses (and a couple more of themes which I don't remember right now)

Thanks for the response. Would anyone happen to know about how many events are held each year on courses that require the collectors edition? Most of them. The Collector's Edition offers new course themes which are often updates/enhancements to the old themes (examples: Links --> Highlands; Autumn --> Harvest; Rural --> Rustic; Alpine --> Swiss). Course designers generally prefer the new themes because they look a lot better and offer a nicer set of trees, plants and grasses.
