Yeah I won't last long there. Even though this week's pga course is way soft. Next week's Pebble Beach ain't too bad either. Don't be so sure.... Word on the green is that they're going firm for the pga

-11, -7, -7, -3. Gives me the leader on ps4 by four. Don't think it will last. I had a handful of bad bogies the last round, but plenty of luck in the previous three. Warm up your chippers and give it some backspin fellas. I played my final round last night, I get to the 17th hole with a one shot lead on you. It's at this point my hands turn to jelly, I then proceed to go double bogey - bogey on the last two holes and finish two shots behind, not only that, I also get an ear full from the wife for "over-reacting" "it's only a game of golf", I'm sure you've all heard those words before, it never makes up for the heart break of losing a lead. I've got an exemption to the Pga next week so I'll see you boys again soon!

After last weeks defeat to the new Irishman on the block something had to be done. It's been a long rivalry but now it's gone way past golf. For Dan to suggest that all Geordies take their tops off at football matches is just a lie. Only fat Geordies do such things, the rest wait until they are on Geordie Shore!!! I was looking forward to playing a harder course until I started my practices. I was drunk when I played the first 3 rounds(Have to work on that beer belly!) but even when sober the next day I struggled to make par. I saw Mr Sheehan's -7 and all of the top scores and as usual I was amazed, the luck of the Irish explain one or two of the scores but the rest? ? I decided enough was enough, one last practice and I'd just get it out of the way. I ended up with a -9 and all of a sudden I had hope. Not too much mind. I've seen this happen before only to screw up my proper round As you know if you're been reading this thread I managed to record a -11, 2nd place the last time I looked. This was some round. The Thursday setup certainly has the more favourable pin positions but it can still catch you out. I played badly on the first two holes but managed two birdies, the 2nd was a chip in after missing the green. My play improved after that but typically I could only par the next 2 holes, missing easier birdie chances. Birdies followed on 5, 6 and 7 including my 2nd chip in on the 7th hole. -5 after 7 and just ahead of Dan at that point I think. 4 pars in a row put me behind and the round had started to fizzle out. I needed to get it going again. Birdie on 12 started that. Another chip in. I then went birdie, eagle, birdie, birdie. The eagle was special. I had 27 yards to go on the short par 4. Using the flop shot can be dangerous but on these concrete greens I find it much easier to control. I added a bit of loft onto the shot and manages to get it to bounce a couple of yards before the hole, it then stopped 3 or 4 inches past. I was delighted but then it spun back straight into the hole, a great feeling! -11 after 16. I missed a good chance on 17 and then played 18 safe. It's great to see my name up there and also 4 shots ahead of my main rival. It's been a long time since I've been near the top but I know I have to work to keep it up. I've seen from practice that this course can destroy you, especially the further through the weekend you go. I could still miss the cut from here. I played safe and chipped well. I need to do that again. I'm not sure where to set my sights now. I've been so far down recently I've only even been thinking about the cut.

I should have had a practice rounds first 1st round started well with 2 birdies but was back to even par after 4. It was a funny old round with a final -8. I was happy with that. Playing my mate (non tgctours member[queue boos and hissing]) he was +5 from 8 on the 2nd round. I mocked him greatly before being +4 from the opening 3 holes myself. I missed a few 7 foot birdie putts on some very tricky greens and ended with a dire +1. Tip for those playing round 2, don't go for the green off the tee on the 2nd hole lol. Me and my caddy were a wee bit too optimistic and got punished. Unlikely to make the cut after that score but will keep an eye out. Good luck webbers

+4 after 10. I hate this course.. Wayyyy to firm of greens. I'm terrible at every aspect of this god forsaken POS Hold on guys I have an exemption to play up on the PGA this week lol... I apologize for my rant! I see there is a bit of a loop hole on what tournament people choose to play. It seems it's ok now to register for Web and when things are not going so well just say ah well I have an exemption sure I may as well take that. Just wondering would you have done the same if you were -9 thru 10 in the web tournament?

^^^^^ Surely the head honchos can look at which tournament was started first it's getting silly now it should definitely be mandatory to take the exemption it's just plain cheating in my opinion

I thought my exemption wasn't real because I didn't even finish in the top 10 last week and I saw that some people had gotten them and they weren't legit so I didn't do anything about it. So when I went to submit my scores I saw I still has a message that I could play up on the PGA. I went through the process to see if it worked and it did. I never thought once that it was cheating. I apologize but it is what it is.

I appreciate your honesty saying you would have played on if going well but there in lies the problem with the system, perhaps cheating maybe too strong a word for it but it is certainly bending the rules. I don't know what happened with the exemptions they must have started off the moving month rules early so you obviously got the benefit of the top 10% of the field of 140 and got an exemption so why didn't you just take it and register with PGA to begin with or just enter your scores on the Web tournament as you intended and keep your exemption for next week. The loophole allows the same thing with the exemptions, you can play the PGA or Euro tournament without registering first and if things don't go well then you can play the Web tour as a fallback and keep the exemption. Mandatory exemptions stop anything like this happening as it takes the decision out of peoples hands.

I never tried to use the exemption because I thought it wasn't real but when I saw it was still there when I went to submit my Web scores I just tried it. I would have saved it for next week but if I suck on the PGA I'll be sent back to Web and next week the Web is hosting my course Royal Burberry Black lol.. But I feel like I might make the cut on the PGA this week. Haha who knows! Honestly I'm like 20 something on the Web money list so jumping up isn't ideal.

there are way too many possibilities on web if you are good enough to earn a pro tour exemption you should be forced to use it the next week not only can you refuse to use it you can choose when you want to use it this only promotes the sandbagging we have been witness to just my honest opinion

So Dean shots eleven under, interesting. You know what's also interesting, not long ago, I played Dean in a match play game and he could not hit a mile wide fairway, and now all of a sudden he is doing this. I am not going to say anymore or I will be accused of sour grapes. So on a completely unrelated topic, is there mandatory drug testing on the web.com? Just curious. Anyway, round two, why was the tee box on the first, fifty yards back, painted black and white and had Nufc engraved on the side? Was it the same for everyone or just me? It confused me so much I only made par. The second brought my first birdie of the round, I played short off the tee to give myself a longer approach, allowing it to roll towards the hole. I was still left with a tricky ten feet putt which I got spot on. I thought I was going to lose that shot on the next hole with a poor chip shot, my putter saved me. My approach on the third was looking good until a vicious kick sent the ball right and off the green. I remembered my chipping mistake from the last hole so adjusted accordingly and made birdie. I played clever on the fifth, again playing short to give myself the best chance of birdie, nearly came undone when I under hit my flop but the six foot putt was make able. Putter to the rescue again on six when I played a terrible approach, left it twenty yards short of the green, squeaky bum time as my pitch was way short. I will admit, I got away with it when I made par. I went four under on seven with a fantastic long range breaking chip shot. I can chip well but was not expecting it to drop, only meant to lag it close. I got to five under over the next two holes with great putting, one long range lag to save par, one medium range for birdie. A good front nine, now to avoid stupidity.
The back nine started with my best approach of the round so far, giving me a three foot birdie putt before I made life hard for myself on eleven, going from rough to rough and a over hit third shot to the green, thankfully my par putt was pretty much straight. I was not playing the par threes well and twelve was no exception, I left myself a forty foot birdie. I was putting well though, so could I make this putt, naw but it did come close. Par on thirteen was disappointing, a terrible pitch gave me no chance of birdie, it was starting to look like my luck from the front nine had run out. I got back on track on the fourteenth, I hate not going for the green in one on a hole like that, it's against my nature but I had to play safe and take the birdie. I followed that with birdie on fifteen, yesterday, I parred both these holes, it was nice to get them right this time. Then like a bolt out of the blue, I got scared, visions of bogey and double bogey clouded my mind. I had a good round going and convinced myself it was all going to go wrong. So even though I am ashamed to admit it, I chickened out. I played more conservatively then a republican at a tea party. I took no chances what so ever a played for safe pars. Maybe this will come back to haunt me come cutline time but I took my bogey free eight under and went home.
Despite the last three hole jitters, I am very happy with this round. I pushed my luck, should have dropped a couple of shots but hung in there. Fifteen under after two is ahead of my goal for two rounds. I played at times, better than I thought I would on these greens, of the seventeen birdies I made, only three were chip ins. That's what I am happiest about the most, that my putter worked. I have to say, I loved the course, shots have to be thought out and planned and every birdie felt like a reward for good play. Over to you now Dean, you only need five under to go ahead of me. A simple, easy five under, hell, I got that on the front nine. So no pressure, no pressure at all what so ever, isn't that right Dean?
