After missing the last 3 cuts (i've not been able to play TGC all that much except the weekly rounds) - which is by no means an excuse for some crappy play, I was able to get a few practice rounds on what is a well designed, yet lightning fast and rock-hard course. I managed to finish at -24 which will hopefully see me somewhere up there this week. If i make the cut, it will be a good start! I played with your ghost lewis9 and gavlaar124 - I always play with your ghost as you seem to get round a few hours before me. Best of luck everyone. Embrace the challenge. PS4: Cazz112

Round 1 66, round 2 65. Pretty pedestrian. As usual I couldn't putt to make one when I was at a decent distance. The ghosts were chipping everything in. I was laying mine up on the lip. Brutal. Tough course, -13 under probably not good enough. never say never this was an tough one

Well, that was.......that -9 -10 -3 -5 -27 total. I think I will break my rounds up from now on. I was playing like a fool by round 4. Strong start Jason. I played just to see how bad it was and went -27 as well, -11, -6, -5, -5... also playing like a fool by round 4. Here are my Web.com predictions for Week 17: Winner: -39 Top 5: -34 Top 30: -26 Cut-line: -12

Never been much of a forum reader or poster, but having had no adsl line for 10 days a week or 2 ago my only contact with this game was reading the forums via my phone. Seems like a funny bunch of weird peeps around, prompted me to take stock and i suppose i'm going to try and do my bit and post once in a while too. Noticed someone mentioned something about firm and fast in last weeks tourney topic and the need for a chipper type of round. Also read somewhere many moons ago peeps talking about dropping 7 out of 8 chips in general and thought, gosh, i must be the missing link to the 7 out of 8 ratio as i'm happy with dropping 1 out of 8. Anyways, on to the tourney - expected to get creamed this week and did not take a sighter round and just went straight out onto the course. Started with 2 birds - which included a chip in on the 2nd, yay. Followed with a copy and paste for the following 3 holes - approach runs through green, birdie chip grazes hole, miss the return par putt, pffft 1 over after 5. Needed something to get going again, found myself in fringe/rough on the 6th above the hole, green running away like crazy downhill, thinking if i miss this its gonna be full pw back to the hole. Was thinking, chip soft short, hope it stops dribbling in makeable putt range, or just go for it. Choice was easy, whacked it full distance. Ball clattered into pin, another bird. I guess that chip-in was a watershed moment for me, just played normally for rest of the round, clawed score back to a 65. Round 2 was over in a flash, bogey free, highlight was back to back chip and flop in eagles on back 9, signed for a 61. 18 under after 2, I hope this will be enough to make cut as hot chippers will maybe kill this course. Good luck for the tourney guys and gals, have fun! Marc I played with your ghost and your round 2 was exellent Thanks Marc! How much difference a day makes, rd's 3 and 4 I just could not get anything going. Sub 100 swings made their return, birdie runs dried up and scrambled home with a 70 and 68. -24 won't scare the top end of the leader board, but it appears as if cut line would be safe and any Web tourney where all 4 rounds count is a victory in itself based on my skill set.

Well that was the worst display of a short game I've ever had for 29 holes just couldn't get it going at all to add to that I had a snap hook into the trees on the tricky short par 4 after a chat with big foot and 2 hacks a chip and a putt later made a bogey. just traded birdies for bogeys and was -4 after 29 holes. Had what is known in my house as the TGC jig at many intervals tonight. Then finally I got my act together 6 birdies in the last 7 holes to maybe make the cut. Just maybe. Just hoping " The dynamic cutline" dh-nufc shoots -8 then I'll know I'm safe . I'm away midweek so won't be able to do my watchers eve reports . But will be back for watchers day ! Also it is great to shoot -10 and actually think you have a chanc of making the cut!

Hello to everyone on the web! This is my first post. I just got back into TGC after a 6 month lay off. Earned my PGA card out of Q-school but must have got demoted to the web due to my long lay off. Last week was my first event back and managed a top 25. This week opened -10, -12 to sit at -22 at the midway point. The hard greens are not fun, actually found myself trying to land the ball in the heavy rough in front of the green on many holes just to get it to stop on the green. Made a ridiculous amount of putts that I didn't deserve to, but I will take it as my luck will surely run out soon. Have to say this board is amazing, and quite entertaining to read. Good luck to everyone this week.

Man what a bad way to start the week, might be a missed cut for me! Really struggled to make any mid range putts in my first two rounds.

-11, -7, -7, -3. Gives me the leader on ps4 by four. Don't think it will last.
I had a handful of bad bogies the last round, but plenty of luck in the previous three.
Warm up your chippers and give it some backspin fellas.

Good scoring you'll be up there

Feel free to add to the madness in here it's all fun and games in the end and the more people that contribute the better the thread. Just don't hang around with the watchers and you'll be fine

Courses like this are one of the reasons I was excited about my move to the web. I enjoy a challenge and also think it is a good way to improve my game. The course might make mince meat out of me and feed me to the poor of Newcastle but it's going to be fun trying. Some great scores are being posted already, there really are some fine golfers on the web and with February's extra exemption spots a great chance for some to move up. I'll be happy to make the cut, so let's see how close to that I can get. The first is a fantastic opening hole, a short par five that bring dreams of tap in eagle, a small green green that takes a miracle shot to get the ball close. I took the safe option and laid up for birdie. I tried to be clever on the second, shorter tee shot giving me a sixty yard pitch to the cup, which I planned to leave short to roll towards the cup. A heavy fringe bounce meant that plan was out the window, plan b was a good chip, that did work for birdie. A great bounce on the third had my tee shot rolling straight towards the hole, just did not roll enough, the line was good, three feet short. Birdie number three and a shock start for me. The birdie run came to a end on the fourth but happy to take par on a hole where bogey was more than possible. I think the par fives are vital to good scores on tougher courses. The second par five of the day found me with a forty foot putt for eagle, I came close to making a balls of my putt, hitting it a bit to hard, thankfully it did not go past the cup by to much and I made the birdie putt. Heavy rough meant trouble for me on the sixth, no way I was stopping the ball and was left with a chip that if missed was going to roll down hill, it missed, first bogey of the day. I responded to that in the best possible way, my approach left me with a twelve foot putt, I got the line right and recovered the dropped shot. I finished the front nine with two safe pars to head into the four under.
I had a birdie chance on ten, the putt while long was make able, missed by inches, disappointing not to make that. The eleventh I just played poorly, left my approach to short and misjudged my chip. Two holes where I could have picked up a shot, I can't continue to leave chances pass me by. The next chance came on twelve, a ten foot breaking putt, seeing it drop brought a real sense of satisfaction, dare I say, I think I deserved it. I went six under on thirteen, six inches from seven under. My goal today was six under which matches the best I have scored here. I know two rounds of six under might have me battling the cut line, but I want to set myself gentle targets my first couple of weeks in the web. Still, a few holes to go so exceeding that is possible, just need to keep my focus. The fourteenth is a birdie hole, well it's a birdie hole for most people, I got it wrong, a terrible flop left me just to far from the cup. I was to casual, expecting a birdie with no effort. I came close to doing the same thing on fifteen, a good bunker shot saved me this time so birdie was made. I could feel myself losing concentration, a pitch on sixteen went to far, a good putt got the birdie but for someone that relies on good approach shots to make birdies, it was not good. That trend continued on seventeen when I found bunker again, this time though, my putter could not save me and I was rightly punished for it. One to go, need one last effort to ensure I don't drop a shot, par was made and was happy the round was over. A couple more holes and I could have dropped more shots.
For the most part, happy with the way I played. I had a couple of chances to pick up shots but with my mind wandering towards the end, could easily dropped a couple as well. It's the reason I play just one tour round a day, my fragile little mind could not handle any more. It's not often my putter saves me, that was a bonus, nine birdies with just the one chip in was good. I'll happily take that in round two, good luck all.

I would like to retract my statement about having a chance of making the cut dead last (only 15 scores) with -4 after round 1.
No hope of making the cut on -10 to be fair after my shameful display on and around the greens I don't deserve to play the last 2 rounds.
Reload and on to my first course selection for week 18 Royal Burberry Black.
