I don't think its silly at all, there are different levels and there for different skill levels. I understand where the OP is coming from. Yes it may be for development, but as I said everyone has there own "peak" if you will. You may get better and you may not. But keeping someone in a level where there never going to do well isn't developing anything. Besides as everyone has said If your in a lower division where your doing well you get promoted up where the skill level is going to be higher. But on the other hand If your in a higher division and you keep meddling along you never really get to a level where you'll be competitive, so its not the same. I was thinking (which isn't always a good thing) maybe some of us should take the Q-School again, which may find out where we really should be. Right now I score usually in the -5 to -7 under range which seems to be pretty good, but in CC-A through CC-C, its not even competitive. Now If I took the Q-School again I wonder where it would place me ?

I can't believe people don't want to take promotions. That's the whole point is to try to move up and and make it to the big tour(s)!
I started in a pretty low flight and have moved up to the Web.com Tour recently. It took me 3 or 4 attempts to get that card coming of CC-A exemptions, but it was a great feeling when I got it.

Hey man, sorry for your frustrations. A little story for you. When I took Q-School I ended up in D. Meddled around for a couple weeks and got demoted to E. Complete meltdown for the next month and a spot in Z followed it. Promoted back upto E the following week. Now I was in E for about 10 events and finally got a top ten spot. Now on exemption in D this week(which I won't keep cause I sucked this week). All while traveling the lower rungs over TGCTours my mentality wasn't "Man I'm not that good, I need to play lower tier players so I can win more." It was more " Man I'm not that good, I need to get better so I can compete with these higher tier guys/gals." If you get promoted and can't compete, then you will get demoted back down to the respective flight. To say you scored very well and placed in a higher tier is punishment, I don't know what to tell you there. You were rewarded for the play with higher tour card. You should be proud and committed to getting better man. It'll come just have fun with it. It is only a game my friend

I feel bad here as I feel like I literally hijacked the thread, and that was not my intent. I like the new way you can see right away where you stand in the tournament per the new cut and demoted lines. Sorry to say I'm within two or three of getting the Projected Demotion Strike Line. I played slightly below my usual scores this week still averaging about -3 under for all four rounds. I'll keep at it, not sure how much better I can do. As it is I've had two hole on ones in competition, numerous chip ins off and out of the fringe and maybe at the most one or two bogies at the most every round. I used to average 3 or 4 so thats gotten better. I'm shooting for no bogies at all, which is something I need to do to improve. I tend to be too aggressive, but thats just my style of play. Thanks for listening to probably what amounts to a bit of frustration.

The other side of the coin is this. As somebody who is pretty much a CC E player, I don't want to be playing against guys who are clearly better than me who should be in the upper classes. If they're that good, they should move up. Eventually, when I get that good, I should move up too. If I don't get better, I stay where I am. That's the way the system works and I don't see a problem with it.

As you all know, first prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired.
And 4th prize is being penalised.

I don't think thats why the different tours were set up in the first place, otherwise just have one tour and everyone falls where they may. If you play better thats great, then you deserve what you get. But same as any sport some are better and some aren't. I looked at the scores in the different tours and CC-B and CC-B are pretty similar. CC-C and CC-D drop down a little bit and by CC-Z even the leaders are up around par. This was all supposedly setup in Q-School where we were all placed accordingly. Believe it or not I was in the PGA Tour, where I didn't last because I wasn't competitive there. According to some we should all just be happy where we are and thats it. Well If that were the case then just throw us all together in one big tour and we'll do the best we can and place where we will. But its not setup that way for a reason. I believe this is why there making changes right now, because maybe someone realized it wasn't setup the best way. Somebody has to b%&, and sometime it actually does some good. the thing is Bruce....in this enviroment..ya need work and earn it! Instead of groaning.... go out and earn ya card...like most of us did. Not a pop at you at all....Just takes time

I have the opposite view from the op. After q school I was drop into cc-a where I have stayed ever since, Until this month I didn't play bad but with this week I will earn my second strike, I shot a 62,64,62,62. When I get demoted to cc-b I will have the will to try to get back to cc-a. I will not be satisfied with where I am (cc-b). You got a exemption great run with it I say.
