I survived the night so I can finally stop saying if I win. I have had a good few weeks but it is still a shock to see my name on top of the leaderboard. I have to admit it's a great feeling. Normally after a round, I think of that shot that might have cost me. This time I get to think about which shot brought the victory, I think it was the eagle on the par four in round three, it was a confidence building shot was the start of a great scoring run. From time to time there are posts from people worried they will not progress. I think I am proof, that everyone of us can. I started on the lowest tier, with simple goals like just finishing under par. As time went on, I got better but no with out setbacks, I shot rounds in the eighties, been demoted, despite this, I continued to play with a smile on my face, taking the good with the bad, learning from both. And now look at me, a winner on tour. Progression is possible for all of us, small goals and baby steps to start and anything can happen. Like all acceptance speeches, there is a list of people I want to thank but first a list of screw you to the people I don't want to thank.
1] the web.com guys, you tried to keep me down with dirty tricks and yet here I am, coming to get each and everyone of you.
2] the Irish government, for refusing me a Olympic grant claiming video golf is not a real sport.
3] my family and friends, who after the grant was refused, would not subsidise my golfing career, telling me I had to pay my own way, they won't see a penny of my winnings.
4] Kenny, Gary, David, Chris, Pablo, Jared and everyone else that constantly beat me in live play. Ye did not help my confidence in any way.
5] the staff of tgc tours, for ignoring my letters of appeal against my demotion, for not agreeing to my demands that I be invited to all the majors and for starting the restraining order with " Dear special snowflake".
6] the makers of the weekly wrap up for not mentioning my name once even when I finished in the top 5, my name was there on screen and not one damn shout out. Runners up have feelings to.
And now to the list of people I want to thank.
1] me, I am awesome.
