Longest Putt (R1 through 4) 15.3 ft 25.9 ft 12.6 ft 11.9 ft again, show me where I can get information on reading the greens on Xbox, and that reading them is as easy as any other console/PC, and I will give my blessing. Even though other valid arguments will make this moot No two putts are the same and you will miss your fair share. It's meant to be hard. I missed two 3 footers this week, not because I couldn't read them, but because I misread them. There is guesswork involved on any machine. "I can't read the greens because of my machine" just sounds like an excuse. There's clearly a few people in TST who can do it reasonably well on their XB1.

I can do it reasonably well on Xbox, but my best bet is getting it close. However, I'm not 100% sure it is the same for everyone's system. If someone can do the legwork and test on all 3 systems without bias, then so be it. I'm not worried about the challenge, I'm an elite player and will figure it out. BUT I STILL WOULD BEED TO KNOW IT'S THE SAME FOR EVERYONE

Who wants to show me the tools that will allow me to read every green without grids on Xbox? I'll learn (not that it matters). I've played in quite a few true sim tourneys (only one on TGCT, but others quite a few times), and I can shoot pretty good scores in it, but sometimes, I have zero chance of determining which direction and how much break there will be if I don't get proper rollout. This would be fine if I knew that every other console and PC would have the same difficulty in reads, but I know that's not the case I would like some sort of software that not only aims my shots it will also execute them for me so basicly I only want to feed this software with numbers like distance to green expected rollout yeah u get the idea

I can but a stop to this thread now. NO, we will not be making our PRO tours NO GRIDS. This was the reason we brought over TST.

One day we will look back and wonder how we ever could play with those pesky assists on.... ;-)

Just becomes a contest of who can buy the best computer. Thankfully we are dealing with intelligent people running the tours and until it was an even playing field a suggestion like this will never even be considered. The TST Top 10 is routinely full of PS4 players, and an XB1 guy won just last week, so that argument just doesn't stand up LOL, one guy winning on XB1 proves absolutely nothing.

I no i could do reasonably well playing under these conditions aswel but the main point of all this for me is i enjoy playing the game at a pretty fast tempo, id probly say of the top 20 or so players around id like to guess that i spend the least time of those players reading a green, i do it all on instinct, one look at the beads and my fingers do the talking, not saying im the best putter by a long way but it does serve me well. So going back to No grid, the main thing is any more time spend having to study a green just means less time enjoying this game for me, regardless of the console or power of my pc.

The 'problem' with TST for me is it's too time-consuming. Having to go through the checks to workout putt breaks is too much; especially for 4 rounds!

If PGA/Euro went to no-grid I'd stop playing. I understand there is a passion for this style of play and appreciate that it lowers the obscene scoring, but to me it just isn't fun to trying to putt like that. I like that there is a tour for those that enjoy this challenge. I just don't want that style of play forced down into the other leagues. (So thank you Tim - glad you made this call early).
I tried the TST for a few weeks, made all the cuts, but didn't enjoy it. Maybe it is because I'm on Xbox, or my TV isn't that great, but I couldn't read the putts. I asked a lot of questions, read the forums, read the hints and tips, and watched as many videos as I could. At one point, I studied a video someone put together on how to read a putt. I muted the next part and tried to read it myself before the guy hit the shot. My 'read' was exactly opposite of what that guy saw and where the ball went.
I think there is an overall concern about the scoring. It is getting into Tiger Woods ranges now. But taking away one of the aides feels like an artificial adjustment. Why not tell people to use their opposite hand to swing? Or wear a blindfold? That would make it harder too....but nobody would think that was fun either. That's an extreme example and a bit apples to oranges...I know.
I'm biased in my opinion of course. I don't like no-aides and won't be going back to it. But again, if I were forced to play it I'd just move on.

I thought TST was the main tour? ;-) Regarding not being able to read on X-Box - the display has much more of an influence than the system it seems. No grid reading is an educated guess sometimes, no doubt. That is what makes it realistic as real life is the same. I really enjoy playing TST from time to time.
But I don't understand the realistic argument in terms of putting. I don't understand how looking at a green on my TV screen is even remotely close to me standing on a green IRL. I have a 55" LCD TV and it is laughable at times how wrong I am at reading a 4 foot putt.
I shouldn't have to spend 10 minutes looking at a 4 foot putt on a video game, trying to read every angle, seeing a front view of the putt breaking right but seeing the view from behind the hole break the other way, and then after all that, seeing my putt shoot off in the opposite direction of what I was thinking.
IRL, I can immediately tell which direction a 4 foot putt will break (how much is another story), not on this game. So no, I do not think it is realistic.

I'd probably try it out if it was only the no grids, but having to pause and look at the flag every shot doesn't seem like my idea of a good time.

I don't have any issues anymore getting the general break on 4-5 footers that move a lot. The subtle ones moving a hole or so can be tricky. Look for hole tilt ( easier with flag in) and push the maker back a bit when having a look.
Do you have the depth of field turned off? It can blur the short putts pretty badly...
Sink percentages do come out fairly realistic with the grid off.

I agree with Mrooola: if a promotion from Web.com meant moving to no-grid-putting, I'd prefer to stay on the Web.com tour. Playing TGC without a putting grid is a different game than playing with the grid on.
If there are enough people who enjoy TST, then maybe there could be separate TST tours and flights.

I know this is a bit off-topic, but I still think the TST would really benefit with a couple of flights. There are players that have played with no-aides from the beginning mixed with the best players in the world mixed with people trying it for the first time. If there were a rookie tour I think you might have more interest.
I'm not suggesting setting up a trophy-for-all scenario where everyone can win. But a two-flight system, even with smaller numbers, might be encourage people that are just starting out.

Yeah I've pitched a second flight option before. Basically two tournaments. The current one with the big purse or an option to play in another minor tournament which would have a way lower purse and only be 2 rounds without a cut for the rookies. Would people be interested in that? That's the question?
As for 4-footers? I have never spent too long on them. 30-45 seconds tops. I'm on ps4 though so no idea if Xbox is different.
