Just wondering if we can revisit this old topic:
Will "No-Grid" ever make it to the PGA/Euro Tours?.
The reason I ask this is simple, way back when, the biggest argument against it was players complained that they could not read the greens, even though there were tips out there to help them. Now that we have the true sim in full swing, its pretty obvious that notion is false. With all 3 systems placing in the top 10 currently, its fair to say "i can't read the green" is debunked across the board.
PGA/Euro are suppose to be the best of the best, lets play it like we are!
anyhoot, I suggest we at least talk about the possibility of adding in no-grid events to see how it goes, whether it happens or not, is out of our hands, but I would like to know where everyone stands on the issue, and why.
thanks for your time.

Personally I hate no grid on Xbox, I find the information available very unreliable, maybe it's just me but this is the only reason I don't play TST, I love the rest of true sim but all too often tee to green I'd get myself close for birdie and for the life of me can't work out which way the ball would break never mind how much break and more often that not I'd 3 putt, get angry and quit.

Impossible to truly read on xbox. Best chance you have is to get rollout to determine break, but some shots don't give you that.

Why would we need 3 true sim tours?
And if anyone was paying any attention it's been proven that not all systems are equal when it comes to displaying the greens.
Some systems can display the greens so good you don't need to spend 20 minutes reading the greens.

The regular tours need to be uniform, if PGA/Euro didn't use grids and Web did, people would seriously struggle to make the jump. Also, the biggest disparity between skill levels on the same tour exists between the top pros and the "grinders".
If you want to play without grids, play TST.
I do agree about green reading though, those who say "I can't do it" just haven't spent enough time trying and/or are too used to making everything IMO

I won't enter the debate regarding differences on platforms reading greens.
I will however say that if no grids were implemented to PGA and euro I would never want to leave Web.

Just becomes a contest of who can buy the best computer. Thankfully we are dealing with intelligent people running the tours and until it was an even playing field a suggestion like this will never even be considered.

The TST Top 10 is routinely full of PS4 players, and an XB1 guy won just last week, so that argument just doesn't stand up

Who wants to show me the tools that will allow me to read every green without grids on Xbox? I'll learn (not that it matters). I've played in quite a few true sim tourneys (only one on TGCT, but others quite a few times), and I can shoot pretty good scores in it, but sometimes, I have zero chance of determining which direction and how much break there will be if I don't get proper rollout. This would be fine if I knew that every other console and PC would have the same difficulty in reads, but I know that's not the case

how do you know the Xbox player didn't stick every approach? Longest Putt (R1 through 4) 15.3 ft 25.9 ft 12.6 ft 11.9 ft again, show me where I can get information on reading the greens on Xbox, and that reading them is as easy as any other console/PC, and I will give my blessing. Even though other valid arguments will make this moot

Remember the thought that greens break toward the water? This weeks TST course has holes where that's not the case. And I couldn't tell

I thought TST was the main tour? ;-)
Regarding not being able to read on X-Box - the display has much more of an influence than the system it seems. No grid reading is an educated guess sometimes, no doubt. That is what makes it realistic as real life is the same.
