Hey all!
In my last thread I promised to set up a Christmas special tour in the off week. We'll HB screwed me somewhat and the tour I published last weekend didn't show up until today. So with only 4 days left on that tour I decided to redo the tour. The new tour will be up and running the next 10 days. CC Christmas Mashup is the name.
This tour consists of 5 courses. 4 of witch are potential CC tour stops and 1 is my way of saying hello to you all.
Hope you enjoy it even if its late and Christmas is already upon us. Please share any and all feedback. Is there any of these YOU like to see on the tour. Is there anyone you would hate on tour? All is welcome.
I've tried picking courses that are challenging, but provide a fair challenge. No fast/firm courses or greens with ridiculous pin positions.
The Courses
1. Stotewold Park (Countryside) by James Thompson 2. MacArthur Valley (Boreal) by Wayne Adams 3. Santa Roca Golf Club (Delta) by Brian Ross 4. Hocking Hills Country Club (Countryside) by Tim Jaquith 5. The Copse @ Malkie Coast (Highlands) by Ola Ericsson
Good luck everyone and remember, this is only for fun. Nothing official.
Best Regards Ola

Figured I'd give you guys something to aim for. -43 total -9 -7 -12 -7 -8
I'm satisfied with that, but it's faar from unbeatable. Made a mess out of my own course for example. Hocking Hills is probably the toughest course, but MacArthur Valley sure show some teeth on the back 9. Good luck guys!

Shot -3 at Stotewold Park, not too many flat holes on that course, very nice though, had to think my way round it, only let down by my putting

Just finished stoteworld, loved the course management type of game play, even though I did not manage it well. My concern here would be mistakes can be harshly punished, not a issue for the upper tiers of the cc, we deserved to be punished if make silly mistakes, not sure if fair for the lowest tier. Still would make a nice challenge, more so in windy conditions.

MacArthur Valley would fit nicely into the medium level of difficulty in the cc. It's advantage to players that can putt well as there are some tricky greens but there's no reason why a player can not two putt once the green is found. The course is very playable in high winds and while this can bring course management into play, not to the same degree as stoteworld. A course I would be happy to play on the cc.

Well, I think both are great courses for CC. Stotewold is, for sure, a bit harder, but nothing too extreme. Mainly because the greens are not fast and firm, which seems to be the only problem for the standard player in CC

Santa Roca is the easiest and most forgiving of the courses so far, generous fairways and greens that are not overly complicated bring birdie chances to the fore in a course that should suit all levels of players. Approach shot accuracy will bring plenty of scoring chances and while there is a couple of long approaches, for the most part reaching the green should not be to much of a struggle, hit it close and it should bring birdie. A more gentle course that would fit in to the easy level of difficulty for the cc.

Usually I need a practice round to warm up and dial out my slice. I went into this cold, no warm up & never having played these courses before, except Copse.
rage quit second round after double bogey, then another destroyed my good round. Round one was a disaster. Just not into golf today. Should have went with my 1'st instinct and not fire up the game lol.
I do however like Macarthur a lot. Also from playing The Copse in the past, if its the course I remember, I loved that course.
I'll probably go back and finish sometime. But right now I have these new steak knives I got for Christmas and think I'm going to go stick those in my eyes. Then go play Dirt Rally.

A quality course that will need the golfer to bring his all round game skills to the course. The firm green speeds bring a new dimension of challenge to the cc but this is negated by greens that difficult, flat at times so even with a badly judged approach par or better is more than possible. Because of this, I would not describe the course as hard, more medium difficulty. Once the firmness is figured out, scoring chances will come. If not for one silly putting mistake, I would have gone bogey free 12 under. I think this course will suit the challenge circuit perfectly. You do not need to be a master of any element of the game to score well. The firmness catches you out, you still have a chance with putting. Your putting not great, you can still put the ball close with some thought. My favourite of the four courses so far, enough of a challenge there for better players, but forgiving enough so players further down the tiers will still have chances. A great all round course.

And finally we come to the copse@malkie coast. More like the corpse@malkie coast. Every hole I played, I felt like I died a little bit inside. Playing this course ruined Christmas Day more than the oven blowing up this morning meaning only sandwiches for Christmas dinner. It's a disgrace, the designer of this course should never be allowed near the course creator again, or near a golf course again, what was going through his mind when he made this I will never know. On that note I will just say Happy Christmas mrooola!

Ok, I know the copse is a fine course and I have played it more than once. But seeing as it's not in the poll and we all know who the designer is, I thought I would have some fun. Overall, I would be happy to play all the courses on the cc. I think my previous posts show which one I liked the most but they are all good courses. I finished at - 31, I left some shots behind but happy with the score
e -6 -8 -11 -6
i hope a few more cc players of all levels will play and give a little feedback if possible. Remember guys, it's our tour so every it helps. Thanks mrooola for setting this up. I'm off to have another turkey sandwich.
