After reading about the winds, i started my rounds, yes the winds were gusting but they werent an issue, ive played in worse lately, my concern is the course, looks good and thought to myself, this will be fun. nope, this is one of the worst courses ive played lately and what lets it down isnt the fairways or bunkers, the designer has done those great, its the greens. Theres hardly a flattish part on the whole course and if you tap the putt like i did in my first 2 rounds, the ball should not roll off the green but it did. I scraped a -1 on the first round by a lucky birdie on the last after dropping something like 5 or 6 shots prior to that.Normally i will hold my hands up and blame myself since ive made many errors playing this season but in these 2 rounds so far, any mistake ive made, was sadly underhitting approaches like usual and hit by my standards some of my best approaches then watch as it catches a slope near the hole as the ball was slowing and rolling off the green. Again and again this happens and you try to avoid it the next time but if your putt is just off and wont go in, you can leave yourself a tricky 10 footer back from a small tap. 1st Rnd: -1(71) 2nd Rnd: +1(73) 2 bogies and a double, double finish thanks to greens Hoped for top 40 this week, will be lucky to avoid last now. Only good thing for me is, that in 2 rounds, i wont have to play this course till we are unlucky enough to play it again on tour.

Damn those greens!!! Who designed this garbage??!! Sorry you had a crappy tournament. Watching your ball slowly roll down this his is super frustrating (happened in this weeks' TST event). This course demands a practice round or two before you head out.

Those of you not using the putting marker properly will have issues on these greens - especially on downhill putts. You've been warned

Ive only been playing this game for a few months so not sure what you mean. I move the marker left and right, are you meaning you can move it forward and back as well? Sorry if i sound like a rookie but when i saw you cant do it with drivers etc, i never tried with the putter.

The game defaults uphill putts pretty close (or right on) where I usually put my marker, but on downhill putts, the yellow marker is at the hole, when it should be put short of the hole if your ball will have more than a inch or two of downhill to the cup. If you are blowing downhill putts way past the hole when they miss and you aren't moving the marker towards your golfer, then that is most certainly the reason why. There is a mechanic built in that as long as you pull your putter back in a close enough range to where the marker is placed distance wise, you will be given that distance within a foot. But if do not pull back enough or pull back too far, the yellow marker won't save you. Learning by visual cues and an "internal clock" of where a 10, 20, 30, 50, and 75 foot putt are when you pull the putter back is something that will also improve your game. I worked a lot on the putting marker and where my putting distances were during the down week we had back in June when the Challenge Circuits were created, and after that my consistency and results improved quite a bit.

Ah thats why i miss putts from time to time then, ive been using the mark given and been going by feel to judge the speed and can normally lag it close 75% of the time and even make quite a few. Think i will have to make a practice green with plenty of different slopes to practice the way you describe and also this might be why i dont score as well as i should in the tour. this week i made 24 birds and 21 drop shots, bogies and doubles and most of those thanks to putting.

It will take a little bit of time to adjust and to learn where to put the marker as far as distance. Be sure to look it up on the forums. I believe in the Tips section there is a long thread called Chipping, putting, etc. or something to that effect. Lots of good information there. They key to improving from around your level is pretty much eliminate double bogeys and cut way down on bogeys. Over time you turn a par or two or three per round into a birdie, but this skill, once learned, will definitely help you in limiting the amount of over par holes during a round/tournament. Good luck!

Good luck! thanks will look for that then practice as i know i can score -8 to -10 minimum per round if i cut out the bogies. So far this season out of 7 events ive got 34th twice, scored -10 or better 5 times and 37th in the money list in CC-A, this might help me improve, thanks

This is a great comment. I used to putt without moving the marker, and it does take time to figure out, but once you get the hang of it you start cutting down on three putts a lot!
