Good morning all. I just have a quick question regarding an exemption to move up to the PGA tour. My question is, I have received a few exemptions this season to move up to the PGA tour but I have yet to use any. I have not used them because I am not sure what you gain as a Web player? Won't I miss out on a weeks worth of points? If I would use the exemption, how high do you have to place on the PGA tour to earn your tour card? My goal has been to try and finish in the top 10 on Web points so I can earn my tour card. I guess it boils down to me not knowing the ins and outs of exemptions. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thank you for you time.

Uhh oh, not using your exemptions. Tsk, tsk, tsk sir.
I am completely joking, there has just been some back and forth on this topic before. Good luck if you use an exemption.

I have the same goal as you and had the same concern. I used my exemption straight away and was playing web again the week after Yeah I probably lost out on some cash however what I didn't appreciate was that as players more successful than me do get promoted, everyone else moves up in the standings. So although I'm not actually top 10 in the money rankings, I am in the top 10 of those left playing on web. So my point... If you aren't successful in your exemption attempt, fear not, you'll probably still be alright I'm hoping to get another this week and fully intend to try it immediately on EURO. The quicker I achieve my goal to play on the top tour, the better! Having said that, if i do get an exemption this week I'll be back next week I'm sure

Without wanting to jinx it I did have a sneaky practice earlier. Really enjoy the firm and fast courses but it is a toughy! Plus it looks like the PGA players are all crossing over too! Sod it it though, if you're good enough, you're good enough!

Having said that, if i do get an exemption this week I'll be back next week I'm sure I thought this way at first too... but we're only 1 month in to a 12 month long season, I think pretty much everyone who is good enough to qualify for exemptions on Web right now will make it up to the PGA eventually... so you might as well try to get up as fast you can and then spend your time getting PGA earnings instead of Web
I missed the cut on my first exemption by one stroke, but this week on my 2nd try at exemption I might even make the top 20.
Pretty sure everyone who posted on this thread could easily compete on the pro tours and would be making cuts more often than not.

One thing to remember is that you are given a heavier weight for your placing in PGA / Euro versus Web.com and CC. So if you're sitting in Web.com with a WGR of 250 and get 10th place in Web.com, you might have been better off in PGA scoring top 50 (arbitrary numbers here to illustrate a point) if your goal was to raise your WGR.
I think each player is entitled to make their own decision based off the rules set in place. I, personally, will be trying my best to promote the week after I get my first exemption. It's starting to feel like that's never going to happen though! So I may have to adjust my sights to simply improve my Web.com money rankings (I think I'm at #39 right now).

It's going to be a long week for me, constantly refreshing to see if -13 will make the cut.... So far tied for 4th out of 12 Not that I'm paying too much attention....

Considering Ian is second in the pga leaderboard, looks like he will be getting his tour card and this topic was for naught
