So after a two hole disaster, I am going to be back on CC-B tomorrow. I did not play badly on CC-A but dropping 13 shots on just two holes meant there was no chances of staying there. So back to my spiritual home for this event. On a positive note, in last weeks charity event I did CC-B proud by finishing inside the top 30. If it had been the other way round, not only would I have had gotten my A card but a exemption to the web.com, ah well, such is like. Good luck all this week, cya soon for another long winded round report.

Just played the 1st 2 rounds, and it seems I've finally got to grips with how to putt. Mediocre 1st round but a much more competitive 2nd round. I don't really see what difference playing in the rain makes. I thought the ball would roll less but it didn't seem to alter in the 2nd round.

Here we go, round one. A birdie to start is always a good thing, it settles the nerves a little, it also helps when the hole is played well. My form has been mixed lately, just hope the good side of the form appears today. The positive form continued over the next couple of holes. My birdie putts were all from similar distances, all from seven or eight feet. If I could keep landing my approaches within eight feet, there will be birdie chances. I went a little closer with my approach on the fourth, three inches short of eagle, I thought it was going to drop, the spin brought it right towards to hole to stop agonisingly short. Still four birdies in a row is nothing to sneeze at. My birdie and close approach streak came to a end on the fifth, I could not make par. Ok that's not true, I could have made par if I had not hit my putt so gently. For some reason, it entered my mind that the putt was down a big slope, hell it was barely a gentle slope, I left it short by eighteen feet, I don't know what I was thinking. My first par of the round came on the next hole, I had to regain that earlier focus or a non birdie streak could follow. Missing a easy putt on seven was not a way to get back the earlier form. Amazing game, one poor shot and starting doubting everything, I need the one amazing shot to make me start thing everything will drop. The eight hole was a par five, just what was needed to get back that dropped shot. I had a outside chance of eagle but it slipped past the hole. I was aiming for birdie though and that's what I got. I finished the front nine with a birdie, a good front nine in the end, more of the same for the back nine, with out the bogey of course.
I started the front nine with another eagle putt just slipping by. I did not leave both eagle putts behind me, they were both long putts. The fact the came close is satisfying from a putting point of view, birdie start to the front nine, not going to complain about that. I got both my tee and approach shot wrong on the eleventh. Par was never in danger but I got to stop taking silly risks, it's not needed at this stage. I hit the pin on twelve and while it did not drop for a ace, it did stop the ball from going off the back of the green, tap in birdie. Another birdie followed before I tried to be to clever on fourteen with my tee shot, not a chance of birdie, happy to take par. I had on of those horrible putts on fifteen, yes a dead straight putt, in my heart, I knew it was straight, my head on the other hand, decided it was to easy, there had to be hidden break, I listened to my head, the putt was dead straight, a birdie thrown away. I forced myself to play safe on sixteen, I so much wanted to shot shape around the trees and over the water, it was so tempting but safe was the right way to go, nine under. I finished out the round with birdie-par for ten under which I think is the right score for the way I played. I left two putts out there but also had a couple lucky shots that brought birdie. I really enjoyed the course, a nice variety of holes and shots to be played. So that's it for round run of my return to cc-b, more of the same over the next three rounds and there will be no complaints from me, good luck all.

I practiced my first round under the rain but on official tournament the sun dominates the round. Finally I scored a 62. Not bad round, but I feel that I could play better because I missed a few easy puts. I think that the most important thing on this course is stay on fairway. Most holes are impossible to GIR if you miss the fairway.

I got lucky on the first hole of round two, a terrible tee shot left me in trouble, I had no chance of making the green in regulation so par was the best I could hope for and par is what I got. When I over hit a easy birdie putt on the second, I had a feeling that it might not go my way today, not unless I knuckled down and stopped trying to hard. I finally picked up a shot on the third but I did not make it easy for myself, hopefully though it would settle me down a little. It did not, more mistakes on the next hole and another missed putt, still one under. A couple of more pars followed, I was struggling to find birdies. The eight brought some hope when I pitched in for eagle, it helped my score card but could it help my game. I finished the front nine with a good approach that lead to birdie, four under, a score that did not reflect my play but one I was happy to take.
The back nine started with birdie but again it was through luck rather than good play. Sometimes it's better to be lucky rather than good but luck runs out at some stage. It was not until the fifteenth before I picked up another shot. I could not get it together today, I was not giving myself chances. I went seven under on the sixteenth, I was finding it hard to believe I was seven under, I played maybe three or four good shots all round. I just needed to see it out, get to the end and I would have gotten away with murder. I birdied the seventeenth and then holed out on the last from over two hundred yards to finish ten under. I have never scored so well by playing so badly. I did play a bit better over the closing holes but not to a ten under standard. I am not going to turn it down though, can you imagine my scores if I was both lucky and good. I am out of here, time to do the lottery, have fun all.

Playing bad and scoring well. Great shooting indeed my friend

Pfffft!!! So I left my golfing mojo somewhere on the middle of a fairway about 2 events back. This was tough for me. I went 69 (including a ridiculous triple), 67, 67 and 72 for a strike inducing -13. I've developed this bad habit of letting doubles sneak into some of my rounds. In round 3 I was cruising along at -8 through 10 or 11 then found a birdie hard to come by and overran the fairway into the water on that long par 5 (or should it be par 6 ?) Ended up making double and lost all concentration, threw shots away for the rest of the round and the next. Dreadful. After the Q school event I'm away from my PS4 for 10 days so I'll miss an event. Here's hoping it'll give me a chance to recharge and get back some focus!

Round one, I played well and scored ten under, round two, played badly, scored ten under. I would be happy with another ten under in round three. A bogey start did not help in trying to teach that target and a bad bounce of the ball had me groaning on hole two. One aspect of my game that has really improved though is my chipping and a birdie chip in brought me back to even par. Over the next two holes, I left my approaches short, one I birdied, one I parred, I needed to improve on that, the chances of another lucky round were slim. I struggled with distance control over the next couple of holes, it was not until the seventh before I picked up another shot. The bounce of the ball went against me again on the eight, not really a issue since it was a par five and birdie was still there, just a bit disappointed with my approaches not being closer. I lipped out my birdie put on nine for a three under par front nine, not great, it left me with a lot do do on the back nine.
The back nine started with some terrible shots, I did not make the green in three and when my flop for birdie spun back and lipped out, I knew it was not going to be my day. I still needed to pick up as many shots as I could but instead of going up the leaderboard, it was to stop me falling back to far. It got worse though with a bogey on eleven, my putting let me down, damage limitation was now the name of the game. By the time I got to sixteen, I had pulled back a couple shots to head into the closing holes at four under, the wind had picked up a little and that helped. I seem to be able to control the ball better when there is a bit of wind as opposed to calmer conditions. This proved to be the case with two birdies over the final three holes to finish six under. Not a disaster by any means but will push me well out of the top ten. I did not play to badly, only messed up on a couple of holes. I think I was more careless than anything else. One round to go, will see what happens over the next couple of days but it's not looking good for a top ten.

Whew, glad that's over. Just have to sit back and watch the leaderboard now. Finally moved back up to Cc-c last week after being mired in D since last season. Finished high enough for the exemption in B and it looks like I might hang on to stay or even have a chance at A next week. I don't know what happened but I'm on fire! Probably just easier courses lately. Good luck with that final round Dan!

I'll be playing my last round a lot later than I hoped. I'm looking after my niece today so round four has been delayed due to babysitting. I bet the web.com guys don't face this issue, they would just hire a nanny or something. I'll be surprised if you don't make A next week, leaderboard watching can be exciting though, I have been at both ends of that excitement, both been knocked out of a top ten at the last minute and keeping my second place as the final rounds came in, just something that adds to the fun of the game.

Yeah, I'm totally hooked on this game even though I take a ribbing from the wife about it, teasing me about how I'm so excited about my "virtual" golf game. But anyway I'm now trying to decide if it's better to finish your rounds earlier in the week or wait till Saturday to shoot that last round. Last week I waited, which is what I usually do and choked shooting a +1, knowing I had a chance to win. Turned out it didn't hurt me too bad in the end. Ya, those Web guys are a little bit snooty with their nannies and caddies, free clubs and balls! Living the dream! I'm still playing with a 20yr old set of Taylor Made irons and wood drivers!

I finally got my last round in, so late not even time for a full report. I played well for the most part, I had two bad putts all round, both caused bogey. Guess how many shots I missed out on a top ten by, you got it, two shots. So close yet so far away. Still it was a lot of fun, I loved the course, the more I played, the more I enjoyed. Only played one practice round on next weeks course, no doubt a bit tougher but that's something I welcome. I'm looking forward to the challenge and with CC-A cards on offer, everything to play for. Good luck to all from here playing in A next week, a chance to move straight to web. Have fun all.
