I don't think the winner should have the choice to stay in the WEB that week. Just my take.

I'll be back down in web again next week, the 2 of us who tried our luck on the Euro tour missed the cut by a single shot. Hope this post stays hypothetical

Hard luck man, you came close anyway no disgrace in that. I'm sure you will make it next time, good luck this week.

Thanks, I think there is a gulf (OK then, golf) between tours and even forcing an exemption is no guarantee of getting rid of that player for good. That's what makes it challenging though! Having said that, an exemption this coming week would have been nice with the reduced fields and the top players playing in the WGC event

Doyley confirmed that somewhere in the last few days. I posed the very situation you are speaking of on page one of this thread, noting that I had to pass on two exemptions last year due to earning them during a WGC and the last Major of the year where I would have had to play in the "minor" event.

Has this been confirmed by Doyley? I never saw it posted, apologies if its somewhere in plain sight I understand completely if the field sizes are small, were you advised not to take your exemptions last year? I see there are guys up on the Euro on exemptions this week and are doing well so they have effectively wasted their exemptions then. Ha ha it's funny all the squabbling in web last week over people choosing not to take exemptions and now guys that did will be back in web anyway

Ha ha it's funny all the squabbling in web last week over people choosing not to take exemptions and now guys that did will be back in web anyway I was specifically advised that if I took an exemption in those weeks that I could not earn a card. But keep in mind there were a lot more inactives in the PGA and Euro at that time than now. Also, the WGC and especially PGA Championship took up a big % of the PGA and Euro regular players, so the minor events during those two events were 40 or so for the WGC and in the 20s for the PGA Championship. So it made sense then for that rule to be in place. I don't have a problem with it always in place as there will barely be a cut at all on the Euro tour this week for its regular event, and the PGA cut will be modest. It won't exactly be a "wasted" effort if they make it back to the European tour later in the year because the money they've earned this week will count towards the Race To Dubai $$$ race.

Thanks for the reply man, it makes perfect sense with the fields being so small over the WGC event and with all the top players missing it would make it unfair on the lads that had to compete with the full field.
