A true nightmare and bad experience for me. But..I don't think I played too bad? Hard to tell.

I am loving my position after 2 rounds. A pair of 63s for -16. I really enjoy tough courses in stiff wind.
I'm going on vacation this week and just wanted to get my pre-cut rounds in. I'll finish up the last 2 on Friday or Saturday after I get back. I hope I'm in the hunt!

A true nightmare and bad experience for me. But..I don't think I played too bad? Hard to tell. Agreed. On PC the top scores for round 2 and 3 is -10, one would think that will be broken in this tourney, but the winds are 12-15mph for those two rounds, so as you said tough to say. Now that it is 12am EST... Round 1: I played pretty well and was -7 through 17. I went to #18 just wanting to hit center green. Sadly my ball went straight into an 18mph right to left cross wind and stayed right. Result, double bogey. -5 for that round. I think this score is still good with the winds tho... we'll have to see. Round 2: Solid round, no bogeys. I played smart, choosing my points to attack the pins and only missed one putt under 8 feet for birdie. Result -9. Round 3: Started off by missing 2 of the first 3 fairways. Still managed to save par and once again was bogey free. Really turned it up on the back nine and was -8 thru 16. Decided to play safe for the center of the green on #17 hit it exactly there but it rolled to the back. Made a 33footer, downhill 10in for bird. On #18 was between clubs, aimed for the bunker behind the green, ball squirted right and rolled to the back right of the green. Left me a 66 footer, 14 inches up hill and a lot of right to left. Aimed 3 grids right and dead center for a -10 for the round. Over all -24 after three and feeling good. Not ready to take on round 4 with the 18mph winds again. Not sure how the first three rounds will hold up with the top 70 on the PGA, but for the first time in a while I felt I played 3 solid, smart and consistent rounds. Here is the link to the Instant Replay of that last putt. Longest one in a very long time. tgctours.proboards.com/thread/4864/bmw-championship-round-3-18

Welp. Nevermind, I played poorly. This will be my worst finish in a while. But I can only blame myself as I haven't been playing the game any and I had a bad mindset going in anyways since I've never liked this course and wasn't letting myself had fun. Great playing guys and good luck to all.

This one is a good course with a few questionable holes/pins in my opinion, but we all gotta play it and I really think you need damn good course management for this course, so you can choose the pins to attack and which to just play for par. You should be safely in for next week so good luck to you there, sir.

WRT course management, it is absolutely key. I had 8 footers where I was playing defensive and lagging them. Similarly, there are a few holes in the first 2 rounds where being 30 feet away below the hole is preferable to being 12 feet away but above the hole. You definitely have to plot your way around, understand when you can be aggressive, and know where the safe misses are.
I have a feeling this course will frustrate a lot of people and draw complaints, but these types of courses are my favorite because playing well involves more than just plugging the numbers into an equation and swinging straight. Proper strategy is rewarded.

Proper strategy is rewarded. Agreed. One of my strategies was to play downhill/severe sloped putts, with a lot more break to avoid 3 putting. Seemed to have worked for the most part. A few less birdies for sure but significantly less bogeys. One bogey, one double (in the water) in three rounds. Good first round -8 is an awesome score in those conditions.

It's early and I'm hungover but started euro w37 expecting the BMW Masters at Royal Balwearie East Lothian in 17/19 mph winds. However I'm playing Royal Balwearie The Open Championship in 8mph. Am I dreaming or is something cocked up? Xbox1
Edit: sorry guys, hadn't realised this thread was PGA but my query still stands for Euros..

63-68-64-67 = -22
Not my best play. I had two water balls and a lot of missed putts inside 15 feet. Only two bogeys over 72 holes. On to next week to try to win the FedEx Cup!

71-65-68-76
Played like ass for the most part, getting kinda burned out from this game after a year on tour. I secured my PGA card for next season which was my goal for the year but I'm considering hanging em up. Well see in a few weeks after i talk it over with the virtual wife and kids..

Don't be afraid to take a few weeks off now and then like the pro's. Maybe the extra time off will benefit in the long run with better results from a more focused joeop

Well, I was even after three holes and had a look at eagle on #4. From practice and just watching the beads I saw if I missed long I was off the green. So I took off an additional 2 feet on my putt. I must've mishit it or pulled the putter back too far. I missed the cup a foot outside of the right and off the green I went. Then it was a comical sequence of what not to do to try and get up and down.
-4th shot : flop up and ball rolled back to my feet -5th shot : flop up with no loft and short swing and ball rolled back to my feet -6th shot : chip onto green and ball stopped short and rolled back to my feet -7th shot : chipped again with different club and ball back to my feet -8th shot : don't even remember what I did, but the ball rolled back to me again -9th shot : don't remember and the ball this time rolled off the green to the right side from where I was originally -10th shot: chipped onto the green and it stayed -11th shot: putt in the hole for a +6
So is that pin unfair? No. Did I have a total lack of course management and some stubbornness? Yes. Anyways, I got it back to +4 after 17, but a 94% approach shot on #18 gave me a double and I finished round 1 at +6.
R1: +6 (77) R2: -7 (64) R3: -10 (61) R4: -3 (68)
-14 total when I needed a top 3 to advance, so season is over. I knew it was over after that 4th hole, but after the first round was over I was determined to play as well as I could to have a respectable finish after four rounds and I think I at least did that.
Good luck to all yet to play and those who make it to next week!

Well done Bob on fighting back and putting up some good rounds after that first round disaster, many a player would have called it quits!
