Played this a few times and I'm convinced that this is the best way to play this hole due to the major mountain before the pin and the steep fall off after it. Who wants to play short and have to putt up a mountain? Who wants to play long and miss the hole only to fall down the mountain? No one! So lets review.
Step one: Hit into the rough on a hill so you get a good look at the hole and your next shot. Note you need to be in the HEAVY rough. Light rough will not take enough off the ball when launched and it will go to far!
Step two: Hit the ball into the rough again, just before the green. This is necessary to take even more power and forward momentum off the ball. Hitting the fairway or the green and it will just skim over the hill and down off the back.
Step three: Hit it short enough that your second bounce is also off the rough. One bounce on the green is NOT good and once again you'll fly over the hill and down off the green in back.
Step four: Use the slope at the very right edge. Even if you execute steps 1-3 correctly, you still have too much juice on the ball. Using the slope on the right changes the direction from forward to the side. Instead of rolling forward and down the hill you are rolling right to left along the top of the hill and towards your hole.
If you do all four of these steps correctly you will be left with a tap in birdie like I was. Of course this takes extreme talent and the vast majority of you will never ever be good enough to hope to pull off a shot like this, except in your dreams, but don't be disheartened you can always strive to be as good as me.
Disclaimer - The above was completely and utter bullshit and while I was aiming for that side of the green the end result was nothing more than sheer luck and caused multiple obscenities from my playing partner who had hit the fairway perfectly and was in the back of the green (but not off) cause the designer loves to create lips at the edge of each green so you can't roll off and chip/flop back on but are forced to putt, which in the end causes even more obscenities. Do not try this at home. Semi-hopeful professional on a closed course. Void where prohibited. Wash, rinse, repeat. Do not swim until an hour after attempting. Placed here cause I was told this is where it should have gone.
**Seriously, look at where this pin is placed. Have fun Euro folks.**
