Well, that may be the toughest TGCTour event I've ever played in. At least there are only 28 entrants (I know it is the PGA but where the hell is everyone?) so I'm going to get a top 30 finish at least.

I hope you guys like the course. There were some neat things I tried on that course with bridges and I think we had just got the retaining walls when I designed Harvest Plantation

Obvious not designed with 20mph winds in mind.......real nice course but tough to find fairways with such hefty cross winds... However enjoyed it. Making Par felt like sinking a birdie. Didn't realise so few are taking part bet they are glad now...

I agree with spudduk. I've played the course before and its a really good course but it does't suit playing in the 20mph winds we get in rounds 1 and 4. Hitting those narrow fairways in 20mph crosswinds was very, very tough and even when I did hit the GIR I could rarely prevent the ball from rolling away down the severe slopes. Rounds 2 and 3 in winds around 10mph were fun though.

Wow, someone shot -6 in the first round in those winds! Although I'd have thought the person ranked 86th in the world would have been at the PGA this week.

All I can say after 4 rounds at Harvest Plantation is WOW. Before the tournament I thought the course was quite tough, but fair.
Then came the tournament. OMG my worst competitive rounds on the Euro Tour. Final round had a weird "TIN CUP" moment.
After finding a bunker off the tee, had to pitch out. Left with 254 to the green from the fairway with an 18 MPH wind in my favor. Pulled out a 5 wood. Got 100% power, and it inexplicably went only 225 and right in the drink. So take the drop, pull out a 3 wood, 100% power wind with me, and what happens 224 yards into the drink. Wound up taking the max score.
Was not a good week at all, will probably finish last, but thanks to the low number of entrants my highest finish of the year, go figure.
Thankfully everyone has to play in the same conditions.

Glad it wasn't just me that had a nightmare. I did somewhat recover after a +10 in round one but I can't say I enjoyed this weeks comp all that much. I think Harvest Plantation is tough but fair with lighter winds but when it gets up to 20mph like it did in round 1 and 4 the fairways are very difficult to hit on a lot of holes. Add to that the lightning fast greens that made downhill putts almost impossible to stop near the hole and it was very, very tough.

Now this looks like a tour venue. Maybe it should have hosted the PGA judging by the scoring on both courses....
30 participants however leaves a big question mark on if the tournament should be valid for ranking points or not. Why not fill up with webbers with the added incentive of five tour cards available or something like that? A bit silly that a tourney with a weak field and only 1/5 of a full field should yield normal exemption benefits... It's not like it's the tournament of champions....
Sad I can't play this week in either case. Will definitely check out harvest plantation when I'm back home.

I'd practiced a few times this week but never imagined I'd be playing in a 22 player field with these conditions. I'm about to tee off for round 1. In a way, it seems to take the pressure off knowing that we're pretty much all screwed anyway. We'll see if it's worse than Swindon Downs when I didn't know what wind waiting was. At least conditions are equal for all now.

Sad I can't play this week in either case. Will definitely check out harvest plantation when I'm back home. I have two exemptions from Web. While I will be going for my PGA card and not a Euro card, here are some of my thoughts: One of the admins (Doyley I think) said that the small fields of the regular PGA and Euro events due to the Major, this week would not yield any promotions from Web for either of those two events due to the small amounts of players in each. So I passed on using my exemption and played the Web event for this week. I am currently registered for the Wyndham PGA event next week, but I have a conundrum and may back out. If I were to get my PGA card next week, there isn't anymore PGA events I would qualify to play in before the Web.com Finals. One event wouldn't be enough time to get above the bottom 20% of FedEx points, that's for sure. I almost find it little point to try for my PGA card next week only to be thrown right back into the Web.com Finals a few weeks after that. I can play the Web.com Finals from my Web card holding AND if I play all the Web events it is possible I can squeak into the top 10 on the money list, which is an automatic PGA card for next year.

Some good points in there - but the extra WGR points should be some incentive? virtual money does not have the same attraction as real - so the bigger purses that would pull IRL is not a factor.
I was more talking about exemptions for the winner of the tournament than promotion - but again, good points.

Sorry to butt in, I just saw the reference to Web players and thought that's what you meant. I've lost out on plenty of WGR points due to the multiple account user fiasco, so that's no biggie. I feel I will still climb until I hit the top 200, then it will be a battle. Whether that is a few weeks later that it would have originally been isn't a big deal.

It wasn't the same playing the Euro Tour this week without my main rival to beat McBogga The leaderboard doesn't make great reading for anyone at the moment! I practiced a few times on this course but in 20mph winds it is a completely different beast.

Ha - you may have snuck past me last week - but I beat your first round score yesterday playing real golf!
